Could this poll be removed ? It still refer to version 26 !

why the red borders? I vote that you go back to the white ones, I like them much better. The red is too harsh and doesn't fit with the rest of the map visually.

I like the dark, too.

Im going to start a new poll:

Does this map feel like Switzerland?
A) Yes, let's move on!
B) No, when I look at your map, I don't think of Switzerland.
C) I dont really know what Switzerland feels like...why does it really matter?
D) Other (post what...really I dont think anyone will pick this one :? )

I have a funny feeling the poll wont work, so just post your answer.

I vote C. But add in the "let's move on" from A. We've been over this enough times...the colors are fine.

I vote C.
I like the colors, just not those red borders (V29 is better, in my opinion)

Depends on what version we're talking about. ;)

If it's this one I like it and vote C. However I prefer the earlier version of the flag when it was incorporated in the title.

v29

v26b
[bigimg]http://i32.tinypic.com/nphsv5.jpg[/bigimg]

I would make your poll as following:

does any of these maps feel like Switzerland?
A) Grey background (v29) it should be, let's move on!
B) Red background (v26b) as the swiss flag, it's obvious.
C) No, when I look at these maps, I don't think of Switzerland. (so tell me!)
D) I dont really know what Switzerland feels like...why does it really matter?

Before putting your poll online, ask some moderator to clean the one running now! I had the same problem and it seems they have to remove the part of code before you put a new one, else it bugs. #-o
Let it run for at least one week without putting any new version online before poll end. Take your decision and do not move from it anymore or we will still argue about at Christmas time!
I hope you can move out of it, good luck. :D

Btw maybe the names of surrounding country could be in their native language as the rest of the names on the map.
Deutschland, France, Italia, Österreich.

With all due respect but this version looks like crap. The current version is much, much better.

Just because there is a background image of a mountain it doesn't make it feel more like Switzerland!

yes that version looks like crap, but it is the only version that looks like switzerland. Jsut because there is a random mountain in the background DOES make it feel more like switzerland. Switzerland is about mountains, and google agrees.

The latest versions also look like crap, but at least it doesn't make Switzerland seem like the home of dracula and other things that go bump in the austrian night.

If I am correct, mibi wants it to be brighter and he wants the mt pic?
Others want the surrounding countries in their own languages?

I think the theme is fine personally, so if you guys who dont like it are going to continue to complain, you need to give me some suggestions! I'm clueless!

ok, continuation from the other thread of yours.

You say that you're not ignoring people. You say that not many people are saying that it doesnt say Swiss, but how many people are saying that it does scream Swiss?
None that i can see.

Ok, so what do you think of when you think of Switzerland?

  • you could think of euthanasia (but i dont think that would go too well on a map)
  • mountians
  • fresh air
  • cleaness
  • neutrality
  • health
  • rich people
  • great happyness

Ok, so what do you think on your map shows any of them?
  • the title (well, hardly that - only that because it just says switzerland)
  • the river colour

so, this is your representation of switzerland:

Image

what do i see here?

  • darkness
  • colours that just dont say switzlerland at all
  • brown mountins
  • things looking like metal
  • just seems like a blob in the middle of no where

ok, so what would i personally suggest?

  • have it bright
  • clean colours, whites, pale colours, friendly ones
  • make things not look so harsh
  • not having a red line on the outside
  • lighten it up
  • change the colours into something nice like i said above
  • make it neutral, and make it seem pure and clean, not a beveled thing with dark bits in.

i hope this is a big enough post that you cannot ignore.

I think I disagree with everything Tom wrote. As I've said before, the color scheme looks fine. Who gives a crap if it doesn't "look like Switzerland"? For that matter, what does Switzerland even look like? As has been said before, the major elements in Switzerland (mountains, rivers, lakes, etc.) are hit by a wide variety of colors that are, to some extent, reflected in the map.

The color scheme is fine. The red border, however, is not. Get rid of it. I also think the mountains have regressed. I liked them better before they were all bumpy. Also, Schaffhausen has a glow on it that no other territory has. I'd just get rid of the glow. And the southwestern part of Bienne looks very blurry for some reason.

There are a bunch of minor tweaks that can be made to this map, but I really don't see the issue that everyone has with it not being Swiss enough.

gah!
I'm going to make some changes according to what Tom wants to see, and then we can compare it to v29.
