Looks like the XML is coming along nicely! With a few minor tweaks and touches this map will look (and hopefully play) fantastic.

lanyards, edbeard, and pepperonibread...
many many thanks for being so helpful guys!
we didn't realize how much more efficient it would be to use the override.
snap responded to most everything else, so i'll just say cheers!
i don't know if it makes me a weirdo, but learning the xml has actually been fun.
we'll keep plugging away. thanks for the guidance!

If you think XML is fun, then you are indeed strange...but you are in good company with others that enjoy it. ;)

I know less than nothing about XML, so I believe my contributions to this thread are over. I just wanted to say again to Snap and Benny that this is an awesome map, and I can't wait to play.

Best,
LMR

many thanks laci. but, on the contrary, i'm sure you could still help.
we're still technically open to criticism, so if you see something, say something (new yorkers will get the joke).
at the very least, you could always inspire me to add ridiculous lyrics to old songs.

I was going to say something relevant, but who cares.

Instead, I'll say this: every time I look at the subway map (the real one, that is), I think "This really needs to be a map on CC."

Peace out. I'll be around. 8)

snapdoodle wrote:Not nitpicky. I think I knew this was coming. These circles were created in the large map but we certainly didn't rescale them. In my AI file they are all the same size.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm hoping to get in the file today and rasterize all of the vectors to see if that solves the problem at all. Either that or I have to create the circles in photoshop and bring them over.

What I usually do is have both my small version and large version open. I then physically move each circle from the large to the small. You have to move them to the right spot (like you would if you just created new circles), but it saves you from having to rename them all.

It's an annoying process, but I don't know of any way to just resize a map and have the circles all be perfect. It seems that they become distorted somewhat randomly. Some are fine and some are not.

Snap - answer to all your red questions - I think is yes mainly... - Image format though - lack may or may not convert to jpg... it will depend on the final image - and if he does convert then he can change the XML - so I would ensure that whatever you submit is consistent - Lack can alter if he so wishes.

Overrides are preferable to use due to efficiency of display (i.e. they create only 1 log line per large continent instead of 1 + (x * sub continents)... technically (If you're being persnickety) - the code to determine the overrides is slower - but the aesthetics run out in this one... so go with Overrides. (BTW - make sure you have you large continents *after* your sub continents (I've not looked at the XML so can't say whether they are - just to make sure))

I was actually going to change it myself. I know the png file is too large for web. It's not unbearable but it needs to be compressed. So when I export the file next it will be jpg.

To make things easier for the log, I was also wondering if I should organize the trains by lines as well...

Kinda like this: A Line:Harlem Station

The problem then is how to tag the transfer stations.

Would it be like this?: A/F Line: The Village Station

I think that might help when selecting territories.

What say y'all?

Could be "Line A : Harlem" or "A: Harlem Station"

Greetings all,

Here's the latest update.

Done:

- FIXED ARMY CIRCLES! Hoo rah! I thought that would be more painful.
- Move and adjusted map to increase legibility and clarity.
- Adjusted Lanyard's Corrections
- Added Prefix in XML to Stations to avoid confusion in Log

Next up:

Large map.

not yet. if i have time, i'll do that later today.

unfortunately, it looks to me like the 88's in the Harlem train station need to come down one pixel.
anyone disagree?
don't know how we missed that snap...

edit: also, does it look like the 88's in the Hollis train station are too far right?
those train stations make it difficult to tell.

Yeah, I agree about the Hollis train station. But what Harlem train station are you talking about? If you just mean the regular Harlem territory, then it looks fine to me.

Ok, nice job fixing those errors. There a few small things left to be done with the XML:

The continent "Any 3 Small Islands" needs to come before the continent "4 Small Islands".

Also, I think it might sound better if you renamed the continent "4 Small Islands" to "All 4 Small Islands", does that sound ok?

You are going to have a tough time centering you armies on the train station army circles because they can't be. You need to make sure the the white part in the middle of the circle is an even number of pixels wide and tall.

XML

Greetings all,

Here is the large map.

Take a gander at the coordinates for 'em.

To do:

We also need to recreate some of the Station Circles. For some reason, when we flatten the vector image, the value of pixels is being misread. What's even stranger is that this is only happening with *SOME* of the stations. Go figure.

I'll be remaking these in photoshop tomorrow.

We're almost there!

Best.

Bed-Stuy and Inkwood are off center

too low and too high respectively

I'll only mention one station circle since you've said they have issues. I believe the Rockaway Beach station circle is a 'good' circle but the 88 might just be too high by a pixel.
