Problem solved! No need to think anymore guys. Phatscotty has succesfully posted the answer to everything!!
The sea levels are rising. Why? The recession of course! Bear attacks are more frequent. Why? The recession!

A well made point that, and one worth considering. A decline to a stable middle point might not be a bad thing. Not all businesses need to constantly expand in order to succeed.

Ha ha, a decline to the stable mid-point..that's good so what happens when it continues to slide. Another excuse..my god I've been in China for 7 years and have heard every excuse under the sun. If you don't get my last statement then you all need some culture, business culture that is.

This indicates CC is not even stable and non-growing; rather, it's declining!

17315 are the current users. I think they used to be +20.000 last year. :-k

Apparently, this years summer lull is at 14k.

No but really, it's kind of funny - this thread is a year old, last year's summer people were worried that CC is declining because there was only 17k members. Now there's 14k. That's 3000 members lost in a year. Three. Thousand.

I don't think there's any question about it - CC is dying. Only drastic measures could save it now, but I'm not holding my breath, the admins have shown repeatedly that they do not listen to the concerns of the users.

As you command lol.

Image

To make a decent graph we really need more than just the last 10 months. Data from three years ago until now would illustrate the downspiral more clearly. You'd then see the yearly drop off around summer and increase in winter. And you'd see that the lowest point sinks for every year and then highest point sinks for every year.

I have those numbers from the mod forum but I cannot share them by myself here, sorry.

I know that the statistics is not that good but we can get some info from it nonetheless.

How concerned is the mod forum on the steady decline? And are they willing to constructively deal with this, or is something or someone preventing that from happening?

All the mods are concerned. We suggest some different ideas from time to time. Unfortunately, this is the only thing we can do - all the meaningful work must be done by admins. And they don't share with us their plans. We only know that they are working on search engine optimization so CC is higher in ranks when you search for some key words in google.

There is no one preventing anything. I think the problem is that CC has only one person doing everything here - site owner, lackattack. I don't know if he has money or not, if he spends it for the site or not.

There are many keywords, some of them are phrases like "play risk online". I don't know them all because they are kind of hidden on the pages. But I know that CC has 5-20 keywords/phrases.

Right now front page has following explicit keywords listed in the code - "conquer club, game, online game, free game, board game, multiplayer, world domination".

wow CC is doomed to fail...

There is ad from CC for quite some time on google, so CC is always first when it comes to searching "risk online" phrase(or variation of it). That can not be optimized more then it is now :D... Additionally new key words will not bring significant number of players on long run(take promo mail for example).

The main problems are different... CC fails to keep the current members, or even relatively new members.

Here are the keywords for search engine optimization the site is currently using:

conquer club,game,online game,free game,board game,multiplayer,world domination

Lack seems to be lacking a number of search words such as "strategy gaming".

He needs to change the terminology he is using.

Irrelevant. Advertising can only increase the influx of new customers but not the retention rate, and the retention rate is what the problem is currently.
