yep almost certainly they will get upgraded to the national stadium although it would be better if it was at croker. the only result i can see them gettin is against that greek team.i think they group will play out as listed although kazan have beaten barcelona before so they are no easy challenge for spurs

I'm a British person living in Ireland, Irish Football which as far as I can tell is a cross between Soccer, Rugby and basket ball (without the basket) is huge! Irish soccer isnt!, its mainly (by English standards) pub teams.

At no point did I say I knew anything about how Gaelic was played, nor do I care. If Soccer is bigger than Gaelic in Ireland, how come every back end of nowhere village has a Gaelic pitch when most reasonable size towns don't have a soccer pitch.

The country stands still for the GAA all Ireland Final, The Irish Soccer final (is there one?) doesn't even get T.V. coverage let alone a mention.

I live in Roscommon, a county town yes its a town as well as a county! and I can count, off hand at least 6 GAA pitches within 10 miles. No football pitches none not one, infact they are currently trying to raise money to build one in town. No one is donating!

i have relatives all over ireland and when i visit them i see ppl playing football rather than gaelic admittly ive never been to roscommon other than passing through by train so gah probaby is big there but again thats rural areas.limerick,cork,galway,waterford and dublin are the main area of ireland and all have place football above gaelic.dublin has 25% of the pop of ireland and the most influence so yeah if we play football the stats are gonna be heavily towards football being the more popular sport.


anyways onto actual football news and Barcelona have won the Europa Super Cup 2-0 over porto who had 2 men sent off.Fab gets another trophy 2 in less than a month more than in his arsenal career

Nice to be gettin schooled by a Brit on our own sport....just to correct u Soccer & Rugby are manifestations of the same game played by English peasants cc 18th-19th century...but became separate and unique games with the founding of governin body's and rules in late 1800's, Basketball...no idea where ur gettin that from...also on a side note Aussie rules is a direct offshoot of Gaelic brought to Aus by Irish convicts sent there by the Brits...

Nice to see u have developed the typical Culchie "chip on the shoulder" attitude about Dublin in ur (how many years?) livin in Roscommon...and yes football(soccer) is played by the majority in Ireland....considerin that the population of Ireland is about 4.5 million and nearly 2 million people live in the greater Dublin area and the whole county population of roscommon is less than 100,000 people kind of fucks up ur whole point.....also if u count county's Wicklow(pop: 150,000), Kildare(pop: 200,000), Meath(pop: 200,000), Cork(pop: 500,000) and Donegal (pop: 170,000) all have plenty of soccer clubs then where pushing over the 3 million mark.
U can check for urself here..........Irish Soccer Teams Listed by the Counties of Ireland.......ur right aswell there are no soccer teams in County Roscommen...but Im sure where not missin out on any lost talent for the national team...

oh really a town with the same name as the County its in...ur not serious...that's the maddest thing Iv ever heard....its not like nearly ever county in Ireland has a town/city with the same name as the county....Dublin City, Cork city, Cavan Town, Wicklow Town........cheers for that bit of clarification...

Final word and then u can go back to ur Gah.....Shay Given(Donegal), Shane Long(Tipperary), Kevin Doyle(Wexford) and many other Irish players would hav grownin up playing both GAA and soccer...I myself a born Dub (both parents from Cavan so spent plenty of time up there) played both GAA and soccer in my younger to teen years but it was the soccer football that stuck...
