Something I have noticed now I'm fremium again. No wonder new people don't stick around, holy shit. The site is pretty messy when you're premium but yano, you lose the ads but now the default chat on the right hand side, the ads everywhere, it looks like a horror show.

That's been the case for some time now. Our gripe is more with lack of advertising for Conquer Club, rather than other people advertising here. At one point there were adverts for other games on CC, how smart. That may have been before bW's time.

yeah, it is very overwhelming, the ads.. and, there are still ads for other gaming sites on here! oddly enough, i lost my partner/best friend to one of those ads!!! he is all about clash of clans, which i had never heard of... then i figured, "OHHHHH, that site is doing well, so we probably copied the clans/tribes concept from them." i have no idea if that is true, but it crossed my mind...
does anyone remember when other sites actively stole CC's maps? does anyone remember when lack just refused to advertise the site and we were still continually ranked in the top 3 for Risk AND forums? that all seems so long ago... sigh...-Jésus noir

Yes, yes and yes.
Clash of Clans has become massive in like, the last year. It's advertised on television, Facebook etc. but still, advertising other gaming sites on CC is hypocritical beyond belief.

I have an idea.
How about when a suggestion is posted, or PM sent, or similar things. They dont just blow you off and not even respond?
Even a hell no, your an idiot would be better then completely being ignored.

All the gameplay here is pure trash.
First of all in real Risk, if you attack with 3 you have to advance 3 to that target. The rules here are a joke.
I've given myself the hassle of comparing CC numbers with real dice and even with available randomizers, what's going on here it's either a scam or pure incompetence. I'm inclined to the former. I've played more real games than probably many of those posting in this page altogether.
The only point of this place is making money. It's a business.

You're embarrassing yourself.
#1. I'd suggest your gameplay is trash, not all gameplay. #2. The dice are generally recognised as being crap, but it's interesting how your argument for premium better dice being better has subsided. #3. I wouldn't bet you've played more real life games than most here. Rash assumptions make you look stupid. #4. Do you expect a business to not prioritise making money? That would be even more stupid.
You're running out of things to complain about and changing your argument. Get a grip and get over it.

Three steps (all fairly easy) 1. Improve ux by simplification. Some pages are information overload. A less is more approach actually takes more consideration than simply throwing everything you can think of on a page like Community, and it helps to prevent user frustration when they can't find what they're looking for. 2. Upgrade the ui with a material design flavor like google. The color palette will be more lively but clean, without a huge amount of images and shadows. 3. Eliminate the unpopular maps/settings. If few people play them, these maps/settings add more frustration (in particular for newer and returning users) than enjoyment.

This.
I honestly have no idea what 95% of the maps/options are all about now. Loads of games I could sign up for but I don't want to.

If my gameplay is trash why is my share of wins still above yours?
All that drives people away from this site is, ordered by relevance 1. the dubious dice experience 2. the correct Risk rules don't apply here 3. the pages look 20 years old 4. acid groups sticking together for a faulty RNG game like it was a religion with clans, badass JPGs and multiple bitmap decorations who just bicker the same childish insults if their small virtual 1995 HTML world is criticized.

Your win % is going to be drastically different based on what games you play. All teams games you'll be closer to 50% avg but if you play 8 player standard it would be expected to be much lower at an avg 1/8 win rate.
So that really has no relevance.
1. Multiple people pointed out how idiotic this is based on your conspiracy theory. 2. Changes are small and never affected my enjoyment but it's there. I don't hear a lot of complaints about it 3. I think everyone agrees on that 4. Don't know some of your references but I can guess

The question is about how to reverse the decline in CC (which is bloody glaring as someone who has only just logged on since 2008 or something similar). Logging into a website of familiar game and being completely none the wiser is genuinely off putting. It also spreads the gameplay load very thinly making a somewhat active site look completely inactive. So if you want to reverse the decline then getting rid of some maps and options sounds like a brilliant idea to me. However much some people love or enjoy them.
You're right I can't be bothered to learn new maps and settings sue me and my full time job, home life and real world. You shouldn't get rid of them because I don't have the time but because the people we want to attract (and keep) don't have the time.

Just out of curiosity, how much is it you're susggesting to get rid off? And please don't mention a ridiculous number like 95% of the site. And which settings?

The Voice mentions "newer and returning users".
1) New users have a more restrictive map selection, so its already narrowing their choices down until later. So they aren't being "confused" by the huge map selections that experienced users have. 2) Returning users, while I get seeing new settings might take some getting used to "what is zombie spoils?!?" a returning user would more than likely be more adapt to find this information and know where to get it, or where to post in forums to find out. Its not like we have 300 new settings (like the maps) the handful of new settings takes a very, very short time to "figure out" unlike perhaps the variety of maps. But again, as a returning user they would be more skilled in searching their games of choice out using game finder or join a game then newer users, so why is this such a difficult thing to figure out? I really have no clue.
Can it be improved? Certainly. I think organizing the maps more would be beneficial. Is the few new extra settings scaring off hundreds / thousands of returning users, or keeping new users away? Not very likely. A few perhaps, and a few is more then we should aim for, but again, we aren't talking about droves of people running away because they added zombies, or parachute anymore than its intriguing a few that returned not expecting any changes and want to try out the new stuff.

you should go and read the thread... what you are suggesting has been hashed out, argued, debated and then left alone while no actions were taken or word came from up top. oh, and then it comes back again and again... kind of like now... however, must users have a valid input, unlike yourself. you know, they say stuff like: divide the maps by difficulty, make players have to play X amount of games before unlocking level 2 or 3 or whatever, give new members X amount of speed games to get them into games that are having turns taken, etc, etc, etc...
see, that is how you make a true suggestion. you don't just pop up deep into a thread and say, "they should get rid of most of the site, BECAUSE I DONT LIKE OR UNDERSTAND IT!!!"... that is just asinine and non-sensical. go to the back of the line and try again...-Jésus noir

Fair point about new users. I had forgotten that. I concede I have no idea what process should be used to remove maps/settings, whereas I feel many folks have some concrete ideas for ui improvements, which are being ignored.
I understand no matter how unpopular anything is, people will feel slighted. Maybe it makes more since to focus on categorizing the maps. I would've thought to see this update since coming back after some time.
PS. We have zombie spoils but not vampire spoils (ones that sparkle in the sunshine)? Now I feel slighted.

I'm jumping into this thread like a monkey, didn't read what was written before (or maybe I did but forgot) ... anyway... just the addition of the leveling system with experience (which goes only up and uses numbers) would catch a lot of new users to stay and play.
