Gotta see this one through, 16 start positions should make for a lot of re-playability. And the decay with a bonus is something I've always wanted to see. Great work natty and isaiah =D>

Before I get to work on the legend, I'd like to ask if it's possible to get maybe 40 pixels of extra height for this map (making it 840x840)? That way I'd be able to put all the information in without making it look cramped...

If not, it's cool, but it would really help with this map.

Design Brief, I believe?

No that's just for new maps I think.

Hm. Idk, then.

Ok while we wait on the decision of the mods, here's a version within the standard size limits.

Yikes... That legend is just...yikes... You think you can scoot some stuff to out in the sea by South Orkney?

Nope.

If the mods give us that 40 pixels, then we'll have more room for the legend. If not, this arrangement will have to do.

Some stuff were done to the graphics and if you look at the picture you will know what.

Looks better. Can you scoot the legend border so it doesn't touch the land area?

No, I'm going to do something different (as discussed with cartography mods). Stay tuned.

Natty you must have read my mind! I was going to suggest putting icicles on the legend border :D Great minds do think alike

Anyways the legend looks a whole lot better and readable IMO.

Question. I didn't notice it before, but why is there a drop shadow? I though this was a continent not a floating piece of land

Yeah, icicles are fun to draw.

And It's not a drop shadow, it's an outer bevel. I'm going to tweak it a bit...

Like this

Props for you! Legend is loads better! My next quibble would be the colors. The bottom and right sides seem more muted and the top and left sides are more vibrant. Can you be consistent one way or the other? I think it would visually balance things out better.

No, the colours need to be distinct from each other.

Are you using a laptop by any chance? On my laptop, all the colours look funky, while they look good on my desktop monitor...

Isaiah wanted me to look at the map.

Has this map been vischecked?

And I still think the penguin is cheesy... but not willing to fight about it.

Why are there both stripped impassables and ice impassables... I would think it would be simpler if the striped impassable was ice like the rest of the map, even if you put penguinzilla on it.

On the minimap, the text should be over the image, not under it (At least I think that's what going on). Also the word 'impassables' in the adjacent legend.

On the lower right legend, shrink that ice shelf just a little bit more so that little peninsula isn't crossing over the a in the above writing.

The bit about the troop decay down to one... part of me wonders if that is necessary btu I'm not sure the history of it.

Does Shackleton shelf border WM6 and 8 and MAR 7?

That's all I see for right now...

Of course. Colourblind filters were used when the colours were chosen in the first place.

The stripes denote a penguin sanctuary. Everybody loves penguins, we don't want to disturb the penguins, so the penguin sanctuary is off limits.

What's wrong with multiple types of impassables? This is not the only map with such.

Sure

I agree... I'll just remove it.

Does Shackleton shelf border WM6 and 8 and MAR 7?

It doesn't even touch them... I can see there could be some ambiguity between shackleton and WL2 (and maybe base G) though.

The ices next to Mar7, WL6 & WL8 are of the impassable type...

That's what I like to hear!

Ok, I think I'm having some difficulty telling the difference between shelves and ice. Perhaps up the contrast in the texture on the shelves a bit to make it clearer.

The minimap... look at the words amundsenland and wilkes tundra. Now look at the words Antarctic Peninsula. Amundsenland and Wilkes Tundra are faded and their blacks aren't as dark. It looks like there's a translucent layer hovering over them. The same thing is happening with the word impassables in the adjacent legend.
