bigWham has always said, while he is still breathing CC will remain open for business.
I hope that does not mean someone is planning an assassination in 965 days?

What really sucks is daily, multiple times daily the site goes down. Upgrade the damn servers already.

400 players gone in the last 5 weeks alone.
2 years ago we fell below 7000 for the first time. Will the last person turn the lights off on their way out.

Maybe CC is declining because there is no forum for people to insult each other in?

The thread is 7 years old, go back and read it. It will open your eyes.
Mods were saying how it was a temporary dip when we fell below 17,000, then 16,000, and so on and so on.

Well, I've been here since 2015 and I'm still joining games with players I've never met (high and low ranks) and I play around 20 games at a time. So my gut feeling is this ship is healthy.

You are a fool.
Any business that looses 10%-20% of its customers every year is not healthy. You sound like the CEO of Sears who sayys they are just fine.

So why do all the negative people hang around?

still think this place is just fine, HR?
Insulted new members likely never return.

I'm in favor of removing the Trash Can and banning insulting speech. People complaining about their own life would be fine. The personal insults, posting of wife beating and such needs to end.
I expect most new people get insulted and never come back. So the membership is killing the site.
Maybe Duka reviewing the most FOED would uncover the bad apples doing the most damage. Likely this is off the radar and not communicated to management. But the people speak with the FOE button. The list would be interesting! Maybe even post it. MOST WANTED...TO CHANGE!
Remember, board games are by nature family friendly.
If you post the list I would happily drop my Trump postings. THAT SAYS A LOT

The crap forums are just a small part of the problem.
Servers constantly going down, lag in turns, confusing map & controls for new people, tournaments dropping off, speed games dying off, dice generator.

You are kidding right?
This is BW toy/hobby. He made a mint writing other software. King Achilles is the only paid employee, everyone else are just volunteers BW takes advantage of.
And if they really cared, they would try to fix things instead of letting CC circle the toilet.

Well we've gone from -5.7 per day to -7.9 per day.
-174 in 22 days or 3% of the site

it's over, no sense fighting it. damage is done. well established theories are kind of obvious.
this graph somewhat explains the trend of a decrease in fresh new players
as you can see in this graph, forum users have always been a very small portion of the user base. which does not support the reason for the decline
this chart shows little as far as causes of the decline, but gives an interesting snapshot of the level of doom the site is facing
this chart of waiting games explains a bit why new users that made it through the first 5 games, didn't play the 6th
