Does that mean that having sex with Serbia is actually having sex with saxitoxin?

Re: The big one is coming....
So, back on OT: PC v. Mac. I look forward to the next version of Win 7. The performance of Microsoft's upcoming big one will be vastly superior to the lame interface, the low user-customization, the unnecessarily increased physical performance demand, and the bulky features of OS X Lion.
The OS X Lion is just a cheap trick which causes Apple's unsuspecting users to doll out more cash for additional parts and software for very little additional benefit. The headlines should read: "OS X Lion: Don't Overlook Its Diminishing Returns"

You mean Win 8? Hard to say, it will not be like anything we knew before. With their shift to touch interfaces it will be something completely new. Well, they plan to release it in 2012 so I guess we will see soon.

Why is it that when you compare PC to Mac it's always actually Microsoft vs Apple?
There's alternatives to Microsoft for a PC. Lots of.
Let's see, what alternatives to Apple can I install on a Mac...?

Ubuntu?
Or any of a zillion other operating systems that are currently being maintained. There are dozens of linux variations alone, and then there's all of the other unix-based systems, and all the experimental systems...
Personally I use XP & Ubuntu in a dual-boot config. I've no need for all of the bells & whistles of win7 and XP runs nicely enough in my computer (although it's nothing compared to the speed of Ubuntu - damn thing boots in a blink).
That's the one thing why I keep using PC:s: user freedom. You have your computer, you get to do what you want with it. Don't like Microsoft? Fine, you don't have to use it. You have alternatives. Want to open up your computer and tweak around? Sure, you can expand it any way you like, and you can choose which manufacturer's parts you want to use.
To be fair, I guess you can install at least Ubuntu on a Mac as well. And sure, there's virtual machines and emulators... Still, there's no where near the freedom of choice you have on a PC.
Conceptually, the Macintosh is a dying breed. Why did the IBM PC become the most popular personal computer in the first place? I like to think it was because of compatibility: all these different manufacturers could make their own PC:s and they would all be compatible with each other. Other computer systems were more proprietary, they were only compatible with their own types... and some were popular for a time, but eventually they faded away. And now, there's only Macintosh.

Re: The big one is coming....
What if you want the freedom of choice in not having to make every piece in your computer work perfectly?
You just want something that can do what you want, how you want it, with no messing around needed?

You can still get that with a PC. You don't have to mess around with your PC (that's what "choice" means). You can just get a package deal with warranty & tech support from a computer dealer, with your OS and other software of choice pre-installed.
AND you get it about 50% cheaper than a Macintosh of similar cpu power.

Re: The big one is coming....
PC's are better than Mac's end of story. I'm tired of seeing this topic on the top of my view your posts list all the time. Talk about Conquer cup and how much you hate or love it all you want but this computer debate is miles off topic! Take your off topic discussions to the off topic forum please.

You really don't know anything about PCs if you really think that.

Re: The big one is coming....
You remember those Apple commercials where there's two guys, "I'm a PC" and "I'm a Mac" where the PC guy looks like a nerd, and the Mac guy looks like a totally radical douchebag?
Yeah, this one:

Well f*ck it, when it comes to computers, I'd rather get the nerd. Nerds get shit done. Nerds are serious business. That other guy, what's his deal? He looks like the guy who slips roofies in your drink and pees in your kitchen sink.
It's so telling of the whole phenomenon. You don't buy a Mac when you want a serious computer. You buy it because you want to be "different", or "fashionable"... or a hipster douchebag.

Re: The big one is coming....
uhhhhh... well, call me fashionable then...
i use a high fashion mac (with a purple cover no less),
i drive fashionable cars (4 door CTS for business, and a Black Camaro for fun)
my home is LOADED with fashion (too numerous to list)
no iphone though, only the droid has Google Sky Map, but i think that still counts as fashionable...
so come on...
what the heck is wrong with fashionable?
so long as it's not the basis for one's self-esteem of course...
