---- The Qualifying Round is almost finished. I'm looking at starting the main event on Sunday, July 25, if possible.
To keep things going I would like to ask the Team Captains, of the teams that already know that they'll participate in the main event, to start sending me the player assignments for the first few rounds and at least for the first round.
You can find the schedule and the maps & settings here:Main Event
Please don't forget to use this format and replace the "PlayerA" etc., with the player's names: [spoiler=format for player assignments]

---- The Qualifying Phase has been decided. The final standings are posted. There is still 1 game going on, but it will not affect the teams going through to the Main Event.See: Qualifying Round
I'm still planning to start the Main Event on Sunday, July 25. This means I will need the player assignments for Round 1 by Wednesday, July 21. For more info on the Main Event:Main Event
Congratulations to all teams qualifying for the Main Event!
And the teams that didn't make it: Once more, thank you very much for participating!

---- The Game Rosters for Round 1 of the Main Event have been posted. Games will be sent Sunday, July 25. This means I will NOT accept player assignments (or changes) for Round 1, without a very good reason ("Oh sorry, I forgot" is not a good reason ).
Seriously you need to to be more selective with how you choose maps. some of these maps are crap to play a 1 vs 1 on and 2 vs 2 on etc. Playing 1vs 1 maps where the player who goes first always is able to to bring the second player down under 12 territories cant hardly be called strategic no matter how ypu lock att it. The same goes for dubb. trips and quads.

The maps and settings were posted on page 1 for the whole of the qualifying round, inviting everybody to give comments, suggestions, etc. Many are the same or similar as the previous tournament and I never heard a complaint then....
I even invited some players to give me their ideas, I never received any.
At this stage I'm not going to change them anymore. Besides, there are few maps really good for 1v1 and we have 23 rounds to fill without playing the same maps all the time....

I agree with artur that maps that drop 12, 15, etc. in any game type put the team that plays second in a rough position, but TLO is a big tournament and if Lindax gave ample opportunity for comment and even contacted people to get feedback, you can't really fault him.
There is no easy list of maps (although one is in the works by jakewilliams) that lists maps that have this type of problem but it's more of a map foundry concern than a tournament problem. I invite you to read and comment upon jake's suggestions here, viewtopic.php?f=4&t=122033, which seeks to remedy the problem.

For the record: I agree with you guys on the issue.
Like I said: I gave ample opportunity for feedback and even invited people to give me their own maps & settings, but received nothing.
Anybody that can give me 69 (or more) 1v1 games on different maps that are fairer than mine; feel free. I'll use them for the next tournament....

No worries. You did bring up a valid point....

And I am sorry for my language. Hopefully all the thread readers are not to offended. To be honest I am a bit embarrassed.
