Umm man u have won it twice

1999 2-1 v bayern,
2008 6-5 on penalties v chelsea

3 even if you count the old European Cup:

1968 4-1 aet v Benfica

Quite a short memory from Joshy not to remember '08 though!

I think Joshy meant that Man UTD already won the league over & over.

Yeah, whoops, sorry I forgot all about the history of football. :D

We won the old European Cup way back in 1980 and 1994, but have never won the modern, proper Champions League.

Huh?

Yes yes yes you manged a win *sigh* it happens but not to worry, we're still faves to clinch record 19th title :D

JoshyBoy wrote:The Champions League is probably a bigger prize for a team like Man Utd or Arsenal, seeing as neither have ever won it, but for Liverpool, the League would be bigger.

Arsenal have never won it, Chelsea have never won it.
United have won it 3 times (yes we do count pre-cl european cups too) and lfc won it 5 times. Even Nottingham Forest have won it twice! Aston Villa and Celtic have won it once apiece
CL is the priority of all the teams who get into it, it's simply the biggest and best club competition going, to suggest a team would prefer to be knocked out of CL to concentrate on domestic league is just ludicrous Joshy.

No you didn't!

You may have won something like the "European Cup-Winners Cup" (which was nothing like the CL, more for any teams who'd won any cup, so FA cup winners could enter etc) or some other second-rate european contest. NOT THE PROPER ONE. Right?

Aha, someone is sore today. You know why? Because you got raped yesterday... and you fucking loved it. What's wrong? Did you not enjoy getting beat by a bunch of young boys? :D That's twice we've beaten you in the league this season. :D

That's probably the only time I've actually laughed out loud on this forum! Nice comeback JB! 1-0 hardly constitutes a raping but if brings a small measure of sunshine into your otherwise gloomy season then enjoy it Sir! ;)

ps the last bit you put (before the spaced out bit) about twice you've beaten us in the league this season... NOPE! We beat you 1-0 at OT.... Not too good at facts are ya :P

They didn't even win that twice, only once in 1994 vs. Parma. They were runners up in 1980 after losing to Valencia on penalties, and again in 1995 after losing to Zaragoza.

I hope you don't include me in that - I'm a Reading fan through and through and thoroughly enjoyed seeing Arsenal beating United (makes the league more interesting for the rest of us). I just hate to see fans of teams who have never won the biggest club competition in the world claim incorrectly that they have won it twice.

Maybe, but revenge for the Champions League is certainly forseeable.

Really? Thought you'd muddle out of it in the end... Is it mathematically impossible or are you being pessimistic?
Sincere condolences if you are relly'd although looking on the bright side tickets'll be cheaper!

Yeah, we've gone. Its been a bad couple of years and had serious money trouble(half a mill lol), forced to sell our best players and this is the end result. I just hope we survive.

United 4-1 Schalke (6-1 agg)

A resounding victory, where Neuer saved everything in the 1st leg here everything got past him!

Sets up a nice attacking final with both teams renowned for gung-ho football should be a great match! Sadly, I think Barca will best us but in a one-off you never know...

Man Uniteds B taeam is enough to dominate schalke ,it was a extremely easy win for us with makes in a rematch of the 09 final.3 finals in 4 years for united really says what competition fergie is focused on nowadays.

neuer didnt look at his best even though the team played better than they did at home in the first leg.anderson doubled his entire united goal scoring career in that match  ,i would have loved to see him get a hat trick .

chelsea up next in the second most important game left, with many of our players rested from the game from schalke so we should be good to go,im thinking we will win this one or atleast draw no way will we lose.

We'll see. It was a shame you guys didn't ahve to field your best team and aren't tired from champions league but I'm still quite hopeful.

And people in and outside this thread were dismising the possibility that Chelsea can catch up. And look where we are.

Yeah you've done well to get yourselves back into contention; no doubt about it. You seem to be finishing the season the same way you started, if it wasn't for the abysmal drop in form (which co-incided very strangely with the sacking of Ray Wilkins as Assistant Manager) the title would have been yours weeks ago!
Whichever way it goes on Sunday though we probably won't have closure until the final day... Maybe Pirlo's right with the FA conspiracy theory...

Yeah, I found that quite bizarre as well. Honestly if Ancelotti is sacked I will be very pissed off at Abrahamovich. Though the slump was also caused by a large number of injuries coinciding forcing us to play essentially our second grade team fora a while.

It's shaping up to be a cracking game, only problem it's going to be smack in the middle of the night over here.
