Interesting to note is that while CC is declining, number of users who play 20 or more game per month is in 4 month in a row incline.

Population is being dumbed down to accept mediocrity and are rewarded for little or no commitment to things in their life. The result of this can be witnessed all across the mind spaces of humanity along with CC. As others have said Risk requires a commensurate amount of thinking and application. Too much for a lot of people these days busy with liking nonsense and sharing silly pictures of meaningless events. Like Chess was massive in the 60's and 70's and that has died away not because it wasn't the greatest game ever invented but because society has become passive and addicted to consuming nonsense.

I would imagine the strategy should be based around keeping hold of newcomers and energizing these into becoming long term users.

Hence all strategy should really be only about how to jazz up Freemium. ALL.

Games should be set at not just 24hr but 18hrs and 12 and 6 (For Freemium). If you can't commit to that then you simply don't join such a game. When I first joined I nearly gave up as the my 4 slot games were taking so long.
It is from the initial casual gamer who visits 2/3 times a week that new Premiums will be made. Letting him invite friends for a say the first 3 months would attract others also. Just some thoughts.

My pop had me playing chess by 4th grade, I actually love the game. But starting a game is quite a commitment, through life I've had a few friends that I could always count on playing a game of chess, but these days it's almost unheard of to find anyone up for a game. I think it's due to smartphones. The last game of chess I played was against my Motorola Razor. Other than my pop, I don't know anyone these days that would give two shits about starting a game. And rarely are we alone just the two of us, we normally play spades, or rummy. ( or numerous other games) So for that reason im out.

I can't be bothered to read all this stuff, takes too long. Oh look, a quarter.

I think the 6, 12, 18, 24 hr. turn idea is worth a look. post it in suggestions, guy.

------Chess has been around for 1,000s and 1,000s of years. So will risk and other such games. They will be here long after the fad games. The fad games come in ,poof they're gone. I think giving people a choice on hours is KOOL ,as it has been talked about even in this thread. But ,as freestyle changes killed speed games. For me it was the sorry losers who try and win a million games a day. They begged for a change in speed games...So they could win more and more in a day... 5 mins. is enough. Hell, I wish they gave the option of 10 or 20 mins. ... Instead of 1,2,3,4 mins. ...It was supposed to feel like playing a real game on a table with family and friends. Not playing in a blink of an eye...Everyone is in a hurry to go nowhere...
