(Right, of course I'm talking about German unification)
Maybe make an opening between Prag and Sachsen? The extra border to defend would go a long way.
If you're not keen on changing borders, I'd say lowering Austria's bonus to 4 seems appropriate. It's still a very good bonus to have then, but of course it also involves taking out 6 neutrals so I'm guessing it would balance out in the long run.

Yeah, I'm thinking lowering it to 4 would be a good idea.

I'm also thinking of increasing Ostprussia's bonuses by 1 because it bothers me that Prussia is so weak on this map. Thoughts?

I've played a gripping game on the Germany map, although would support the slight reduction for Austria (or the border change ED suggested).

The Italy game I'm on has turned into an 8 player build game, so cannot comment further on it really.

Anyway, what's your next step?

I will say this, I'm loving the Germany map. The games are playing exactly the way I would like them to... basically a power balance in the center between France, Prussia and Austria...

Denmark is a little too powerful... but I'm fine with that.

So for Germany, lets reduce Austria to 4. I think that should do it. Someone also pointed out to me, the border between one of the Silesias and Austria needs clarification. So I'll hit that up soon as well.

As for Italy... that map needs a bonus re-evaluation. I'm open to thoughts... to be honest, I've been neglecting this map as the Germany has been much more fun. I'll play some more games on it and see where it goes.

Hello. First time posting in the Map Foundry.

I'm currently playing an enjoyable game on the Unification Italy beta map and I just wanted to mention that I had no idea that Roma could attack Calatafimi until the player holding Roma took Calatafimi from me. I had thought that Roma could attack Cagliari only, and Cagliari could attack both Roma and Calatafimi. I had a large army in Cagliari and thought I was safe leaving 1 troop in Calatafimi and that it was blocked in. This didn't really effect me much in the grand scheme of this game, but I had thought I'd mention it here cause it wasn't clear to me and might be unclear to others playing the map the first time.

I did skim this thread before posting and saw that someone had asked before the map was released if the three were all connect to each other and I.Helix had confirmed yes. But my apologizes if I missed any mention of it elsewhere.

I think maybe making the white dotted lines have a triangular connection in the middle where they converge to connect to Cagliari will make this obviously clear.

And also, I think both the maps are lovely and fun to play. =)

Thanks for posting JaneAustin, I don't have huge problem re-addressing issues if someone missed it. Because I habitually ask the same questions in other people's threads because I'm too lazy to read through a novel's worth of postings to find the answer.

Well... I can see how the sea route can be misleading and if it weren't for that giant logo I regretfully came up with, then I might be able to make it real clear with separate connections. But, it is what it is. By triangular connection so you mean a triangle where the sea routes converge? If so, I think I can do that. Thanks for the feedback!

@Robis - We're gonna reduce it in the Germany map.

If you do a triangle for Roma-Cagliari-Calatafimi, then for consistency, you should have one for Venezia-Marche-Lissa. Similar connections need similar graphics, or someone will think that there is supposed to be an asymmetry in the attack routes.

I.Helix -- Yup, a small triangle where the Roma-Cagliari and Calatafimi-Cagliari sea routes meet is what I meant. I didn't quite know what to call it exactly, but you totally got what I meant anyways.

I also agree with Ender about the Venezia-Marche-Lissa connection getting a triangle too. Both for continuity in the visuals of the map and clarity in gameplay. If I had been playing on the other side of the board, I wouldn't have thought Venezia and Marche connected either.

I love the Germany map, It seems rather balanced in my opinion. I'm in my first game of Italy now, so far it seems good as well. The only issue I was having is that I couldn't tell that the island Lissa was apart of the Osterreich bonus.

Good job on them both :)

westpreussen would be a better candidate for a bigger bonus, if at all. however, ur decision to leave bonuses unchanged, except for austria, appears to be the best choice, as supported by [player]mrbenn[/player]'s comments.

I'm skimming a bit here, but do you automatically win when you have all the shields or crosses? I am playing on Italy and it have all the Shields. So I'm just wondering..

Think some people will get annoyed about Elba's dark color being inbetween France and Toscany's bonus. Shade lighter might help.

I tried lightening it in photoshop but its as light as its going to get. I tried changing the shadow on the border for Elba but it just looked out of place then. Hopefully the fact that it is only connected to Tuscany will be indication enough.

Hi, The unification Italy map looks great, the only problem with it is that the +1autobonus writing doesn't stand out, its at the end of a paragraph that many ppl wont read at the beginning. I only realised their were bonuses for it after looking through the log to see that an opponenant had gathered a bonus army for it. To make it clearer maybe you could just make it a new paragraph. For example:

Game Objective: Control all shields for one turn and unite the kingdom of italy to achieve victory

(Picture of Shield) Shields autodeploy one army per round.
