It would seem that some countries don't hate the America people per say just it's leadership. It does always amaze me that the most influential country in the world would put someone so stupid in power... or is he in power?

I voted no. I spent a year in California too many years ago, and I still have some really good friends there. One of my groomsmen came over from CA for my wedding. Generally speaking, there are many very nice, eminently reasonable Americans. I meet them in real life, I watch them on TV, and I interact with them online.

I like the idea of America, but recognise some of its flaws. Poverty is a big one - a by-product of the economic system and how the nation developed.

I dislike the fact that American Government pushed for an invasion of Iraq under false pretenses. Not only that, but they were obviously false at the time. I knew they were false from just reading the papers and keeping an ear to the ground. The current American government, the British and Australian governments, and the governments of all those countries who made up the coalition of the willing are liable for the parlous state of affairs in Iraq now.

You can keep Jay Leno and Oprah Winfrey, but I want Judge Judy.

And I'd agree with you on the above, especially the bolded bit, but try telling that to some of the people on here!

HAHAHA, I love the ear to the ground bit. Poor GWB was wasting his time paying attention to the intelligence estimates of every single Western country when all he needed to do was check with Stopper and Simon, they've got their ears to the ground! Could have saved a lot of trouble!

The only time GWB "paid attention" to any intelligence agency is when the CIA and British Intelligence told them what he wanted to hear! They never thought Iraq had WMD, they knew Iraq couldn't have imported the materials they needed, and they put a spin on any crappy scrap of "proof" they had to make it look like they did.

There was never any prospect of GWB being saved any trouble, because he had every intention of invading, regardless of WMD. It was a trumped-up charge to give them an excuse to invade, just like the Gulf of Tonkin, and (for the Japanese) the Manchurian incident. This has happened all through history - there wasn't anything new in what GWB did.

We all know it was bullshit now, and if you'd wanted to look THEN, you could smell the rank odour of bullshit coming off them!

Unless I'm quite mistaken, Bush and Congress recieved the same intelligence report, and again unless I'm much mistaken, Bush and Congress (including, I believe, John Kerry) were quite in agreement in sentiments regarding what was to be done with such intelligence.

Are you saying that Bush, the US Congress and John Kerry are all equally deserving of the rest of the world's hatred? If not, what's your point?

I'm saying I'm tired of hearing politicians blame Bush for the war. In the beginning of the war, everyone seemed pretty unified on what ought to be done, but when the going got rough, it seemed that everyone decided to say they knew everything all along. The hindsight bias complex of some politicians is astounding.

By the time everyone decided the war was never such a great idea after all, we had gone in, decapitated a government, and were left with an already impoverished country on our hands. By the time people started assailing Bush for what an idiot he was, we had no choice but to stay.

So... yeah. Just venting. I suppose it has very little to do with the topic at hand

Maybe I should rephrase that. I'm tired of hearing the politicians who have just as much of a hand in it as Bush does blaming Bush for the war.

Sure, Bush has complicity in the whole thing, but that doesn't mean that the rest of Congress is beyond reproach. What was the vote on the war?

Every single person in the majority (republican and democrat) is just as culpable as the President. The only difference between the two parties is the distance each traveled to get away from the vote after the lies were exposed.
