Sweet looking map and ready for it to come out. Does this pass the color blind test? I am not sure it does.

There are ofc many different forms of colour blindness, but personally I find the graphics of this map very easy to distinguish in comparison to many other maps on CC.

Bosnia-Herzgovina is the only iffy one I see... even so, the minimap helps clarify things.

Well, I've made some minor changes to the map while reproducing the correct sized images...

Bosnia is now slightly lighter with slightly darker text, which should make it perfectly clear. The borders are clearly indicated, and the colour-blind people I've asked to look over the map haven;t reported any issues, so I'm fairly happy with it ;-)

Here are the new final images:

Well done, now it's time to play....;)

          Beta - Quenching

---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Balkan Peninsula map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

              Image

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
    1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuances or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. Please update the Map Information Portal with details of your map
    3. Finally, it is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

Looked at the map, the first from my world region ;) . it seems awesome, pity that I do not join any new games this year to check how it works. by looking at map, I have only one thing in mind what can be changed:
slovenia plus 2 bonus is pretty unbalanced. it has bonus the same like albania, macedonia and turkey but is much easier to defend, if put a big stack in sredisnja hrvatska, as it is the only region which may attack slovenia bonus.

I suggest just remove mountains between istra and primorska. if you look at real map, mountains there doesnt exists. in real, mountains end above letter "S" in ISTRA. so, if you just remove mountains left of letter "S", you will do map which is in reality and also very ballance slovenia bonus of 2. it will then be harder to defense, just like it is albania, macedonia and turkey bonuses of 2. then Istra would be able to attack Primorska but still wouldnt be able to attack Kranjska.

Danube river was not drawn properly. Check where it enters the Black Sea.

Methinks Bosnia-Herzegovina needs to have one of its territories neutral... thenobodies80 (yes, I'm blaming you lol) started out with the whole bonus area from the get go in MrBenn's and my game.

I'm liking the colors on this map and the gameplay. Brought me to Major for the second time in my CC career, I'm liking it even more ;)

I've played this map a few times and it seems that there is a lack of balance in terms of starting position. I've seen other comments on this topic but there seems to be an easy strategy for winning:
- Take Slovenia (+2 with 2 borders)
- Use this as a base to take Croatia & Bosnia (moves you up to +6 with 3 borders)
- Take Montenegro (moves you up to +7 with 3 borders)

I think the game would even out more if Slovenia was worth +1 only, or alternatively if it was removed completely.

Hm, given it's position on the map, a +1 may be a good idea.

I haven't played this map yet, but the suggestion from josko.ri seems like a better answer, what with the added attraction of matching the real geography better.

Some sugestions for Romania:

- It's Crișana not Criașna (I know, I live there)
- Dobrudja is called in fact Dobrogea

Here's some map's with the regions of Romania

Yeah I think this needs to happen as well.

you imperatively need to code all 4 bonus regions with 3 territories as starting position
it is way too unbalanced in a 2 players game

Slovenia
Albania
Macedonia
Turkey

Code: Select all

<positions>
   <position>
      <territory>Štajerska</territory>
      <territory>Shkoder</territory>
      <territory>Pelagonia</territory>
      <territory>Istanbul</territory>

   <position>
      <territory>Kranjsya</territory>
      <territory>Tirana</territory>
      <territory>Vardar</territory>
      <territory>Kirklareli</territory>
   </position>
   <position>
      <territory>Primorska</territory>
      <territory>Fier</territory>
      <territory>Skopje</territory>
      <territory>Tekirdag</territory>
   </position>
</positions>
De gueules à la tour d'argent ouverte, crénelée de trois pièces, sommée d'un donjon ajouré, crénelé de deux pièces
Gules an open tower silver, crenellated three parts, topped by a apertured turret, crenellated two parts

cyrenius, thanks for the feedback.

I can change the names of Crișana and Dobrudja pretty easily. Shifting the regions however is a bit more problematic. The easiest change to make would be the merging of Transylvania and the addition of Bucovina. (In practical terms any armies on Northern Transylvania would be transported to the Bucovina!) This would otherwise have minimal impact on gameplay I expect? I can probably tweak some of the borders to be more like the map you posted too.
