So, think ye mighty enough of wit & of sword, to prosper in these foreign islands? Take yon map and set sail, then, and make thy fortune in land & trade. Beware pirates & robber barons... or become one yeself! Har, har, *cough*, #splutter#!

ok That was intended to be a joke, but here's something a bit more serious.

As the north wind blows, ships set sail. In a land to conquer, only one shall prevail. From Duna to Puerto Rico, from Chino to Puerto Castillo, in the far east at Puerto Grazio the Age of Merchants begins! Resources and clothes are the rich mans goal, while rum and treasure is a pirates pleasure. You must decide which path to take or attack like crazy and rely on fate! The path is all up to you. Make your decisions wise and this land you shall rule

updated entries. i think we have enough. i'll contact a mod so i can put a new poll.

option 1:
Kupo666 wrote:You, a brave merhcant of olde, left home with nothing but your wits and an old map. Trusting the winds and enduring tempests, you have arrived at a mystic new land... One of beauty... One of nature... One of profit. However, you are not alone. Determined enemies, some merchants like you, some pirates, will fight you at every step of the way. Go forth, and carve out a name for yourself in the skulls of your enemies. The future looks dim for them...

option 2:
cairnswk wrote:Armed with nothing but courage, a map, and meager supplies, you set sail. Surviving wild storms, you encounter lush, new lands: mystical, magical, marvellous... Only to find that you are not alone! Pirates, rascals and entrepeneurs thrive here, and are willing to fight for this land and its bounty.
Swing your sword and roll the dice of life, carve your name in your enemies skulls. Emerge triumphant, and win the respect, the treasures and glory you deserve

option 3:

option 4:

Well option 3 is certainly the funniest, but I'm not sure it's really what you want on your map. That's assuming Andy will even let you do it. You might have to take a second vote on this.

well if people decide on option 3 and andy says it's not suitable. i'll just pick the one that comes on second place :D

lol yeah just do a revote and take out option 3. I even voted for it because it's funny. I wouldn't want to see it on the map though. Narrow down the top 3 and take out option three. Then either do a revote or just pick and choose pieces you like from each or just use them for inspiration and make your own. it's all up to you, but option 3 definitely wont fly when it comes to quenching...

well option 6 is tied with option 3 so maybe 6 will win and another voting won't be necessary.

Shorter is better.

This map has a lot of text. For new players it will take a while to learn. You want to make it as easy as possible to understand or fewer people will choose to play the map, however great it is.

thats y i think number 6 is best- it does a good job of explaining the concepts behind the map while preserving the singsong jargon. maybe the last 2 sentences could be cut to make it a little bit shorter.

...number 3 is absolutely hysterical  ... molacole you should definitely make a comedy map of sumkind- like hitchhikers guide to the galaxy or monty python's holy grail
Do you need an excuse to have a war? I mean, who for? Can't you just say "You got lots of cash and land, but I've got a big sword, so divy up right now, chop chop."

i'll implement what the voters say unless it conflicts with the CC rules.
so far 1 & 6 are tied for 1st place.

anyway letting the votes aside, i haven't received any other suggestions.
i'm waiting.

i think the voting lasted long enough.

What story do you prefer?
1 23% [ 7 ]
2 0% [ 0 ]
3 16% [ 5 ]
4 16% [ 5 ]
5 16% [ 5 ]
6 26% [ 8 ]

i'm now waiting for more feedback on the gfx and the gameplay.

option 6 has the most votes so here is the map with the story:

It's quite tall. I'd do something about that if you could. While I appreciate you skills and what you're trying to do with this map, I don't think I would play it. There's a lot of brain work to see if anyone holds a bonus.

Some of your territory lines are too long and going into the ocean and others are a bit short and don't make it all the way through the coloured highlight.
