Neph,
How many Duke or NC players played high school basketball in NC?
In the last 100 years, no state has had more impact on basketball (high school and college) than Indiana, with a close second place to Kentucky. North Carolina comes in around 5th or 6th and that is really only in the last 30 years that NC is relevant.

i certainly wasn't referring to duke......they can go to hell. but until the last 10 years or so, Carolina recruited in-state just as much as anyone else out there....
anyways, i'm just having a little fun w/ ya, any opinions about this are completely subjective, i.e. your cute little rankings of "basketball impact by state." onto the next question!

New question.
Who hit over .300 for the most consecutive seasons, and in how many seasons did he do it? Bonus if you can name second and third place and the number of seasons each did it in.

Modern Age?
Quick reply, I will say Tony Gwynn with 15 seasons
Second would be Ikiro for 8
Third Pete Rose for 7?
All time?
Ty Cobb has to be the tops, but no idea how long, probably 20+ seasons

All-time is what I'm looking for. Ty Cobb is right, and it is 23. Stan Musial is second, with Gwynn coming in third. I didn't feel like dragging this out, so you go, Curmudgeonx.

In light of the upcoming (for the US at least) big game, here is a Superbowl question:
What Superbowl MVP threw for 4 touchdowns in one quarter of the Superbowl?

Oh great, now we get a Mass.-themed question...

Oh, would you rather a Favre question? Yes, you would.
Actually, my question was going to be about the largest capacity stadiums in the world, but when I looked it up and saw that a) I was very wrong and b)the largest (by 20,000) was in North Korea, I decided against it.
And then the next one was very sneaky, but I might ask it anyways.
Anyways, who was the first player not named George Herman Ruth to hit over 50 home runs in a season?

Not sure on the name, but did he play for the Tigers?

melbourne cricket ground used to be the world's biggest a few years ago.....120,000 or something

Greenburg....
and you were probably thinking initially of aztec stadium in mexico city, which seats like a million people.

Hello(can I play?)

I think Greenberg was the second non-Babe to hit 50. I'm looking for the dide before him.
And,
Sometimes it's hard to keep North Korea and Mexico straight in my mind, but I feel I did a good job of that here. Although I did think Stadia Azteca was the biggest, it's actually like fourth or fifth.
And of course, William. Rules are on the first page, answer my question.

How did you do that?
(im only good with hockey so ill only answer a few questions).

uh uh, mate, give credit where due, i looked it up, greenberg was 4th, foxx was 3rd......and 2nd is a great one, nice question, spurgy
about the man in question: Although only 5'6" tall, he weighed 195 pounds, mostly muscle, and had an 18" neck but only size-6 shoes. One sports writer wrote that he was built along the lines of a beer keg, and not wholly unfamiliar with its contents.

how about another hint? or tell us the answer, it's been 2 days since the last post

OK, Thought Neph's hints would give it away. My guy is probably better known for holding (still) the record for RBIs in a season, the same year he hit 50+ for the first time (and second player to do so after the Babe)

Hack Wilson.
I knew that he was RBI record setter, so your hint gave it to me. It did not occur to me the HR number (second to Babe) was Hack's though.

Let's try something different:
Give me a category, and I will give you a question (so for example, if hockey fans are checking in, I will give you a hockey question to keep the thread moving)
