Not knowing what the methodology is I'm going to go ahead and point out that when a UK company (Gallup) conducts research in which almost all the top rankers for happiness are European or WASP countries, that puts a pretty big question mark over whether their methods, their approach and the measures they use contain a cultural bias towards 'Western' countries and the things valued by 'Westerners'.

I mean, I've seen plenty of polls and articles which say Bhutan is the happiest place in the world, and on your list China is one place ahead of Bhutan.

I don't know if you realize it, but is also a mediterranean nation. It is in fact the second happiest mediterranean nation(after tiny Malta). That being said, what I wanted to point out is you left out a hell of a number of nations when calling the "holy trinity".

No actually Bhutan is just the only country on earth that uses the happiness index as opposed to GDP to justify its policies. But that's not the same thing. Bhutan, despite using that methodology, still lives in poverty and low life expectancy easily dragging down happiness because of it.

Whatever. My point still stands. Much like Western-designed IQ tests generally favor Westerners and therefore inflate their scores, so does this happiness survey likely contains some built in assumptions and subjective judgements that cause Western nations to end up with inflated happiness scores. Given you didn't address that point in your reply, I am going to go ahead and assume you are in agreement with this too.

So, in summary, you agree with all the content of my last post and are just arguing for the sake of arguing. Happy to keep it up if you are!
