First i must finish mine present project.
Guiscard's map is mid sized. Maybe you could try a large sized map in the future a la World 2.1. I wouldn't complain...the more Roman maps there are the better for me.
In the meantime, personally I think that Guiscard's version is fine as it is.

I was in the library today so I took a look at their copy of the
Barrington Atlas in the hope that it might contain a better name for the continent currently named Achaia, since that was really a province name. No luck though. Greece is the closest you could possibly get from it for this time period. It's annoying because surely they must have called the general area something?
Anyway, the atlas also has a map of the Roman Empire at the end of Trajan's reign in 117 so I had a look at that too. It includes 43 provinces for this date, 33 of which you have used. Of the other 10, once you have taken into account the areas you have had to condense, split or add for playability reasons, the only major disagreements it has are Africa (but the name change to Carthage is needed for the map), Arabia (which is apparently where Judea is, and Judea was just a small province on the coast within it), and Illyricum (which doesn't appear anywhere on the map, and the province seems to have been called Dalmatia).

There was an old board game called Conquest of the Empire (from the same series that Axis and Allies was from). That map would be simple enough (although not timed to the full height of the empire)... pretty straight forward, too, IMHO.

Guiscard's map is pretty much right according to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Roem ... trajan.png
it's funny - before I saw this map, I had an idea for a Roman Empire map... and the design was to come out exactly like Guiscard's. Glad I didn't get too far down that road!

Just thought I ought to give a little update...
Been very busy with work and research over the last few weeks so I apologise but I've had no chance to progress the map.
Hopefully I'll be able to give it some attention in the coming weeks.
Guis.

Guiscard....can you advise what needs to be done to get this map completed...I thyink there has been enough debate over certain terts and we could argue for months over historical accuracy for the puritans and absolute historians.

You need the SPQR symbol.
Roman empire would not be Roman empire without SPQR standard.

I've seen Guiscard make a few posts around the forum lately. Or, at least one that is.
maybe someone should PM him and ask about the map.

I recieved a PM a little while back about another Roman Empire map start bup, and my reply was that I cannot really devote my time to the map at the moment and so it would be unfair to hinder someone else making progress.
I may be looking to start it up again in the near-ish future, it depends how work goes. I would encourage comments on Lone Prophet's map for the time being, however.
