Has anyone actually considered that most of these maps really aren't sufficient to support more than 8 players due to tert #s and that drop maps are set for 8.

Yes, I believe that this has been mentioned and I see how this could cause a problem. However, I personally know nothing about coding etc. and how this would be implemented effectively. But like I've said, the final decision will be [player]lackattack[/player]'s. He knows what's what. :lol:

Similar concerns were had when the player count went from 6 to 8. Feudal War, for example, can still only be played by 6 players at the most. The code for drop maps would not be a problem at all. I think the standard, and approximate average, map size is 42. Except for conquer based maps, this would mean everyone would get 3 territories. That's more than you'd get playing Doodle with 8 players.

I think one thing that should happen is to limit the number of players for any given non-conquer map to a number that would give everyone at least two territories. Doodle, for example, should be limited to 9 players (18 territories total divided by 2). Otherwise I could see an escalation in Assassin Doodle games that would come down to which one of the two or three people who dropped next to their target can attack first and win a 6 to 3. At least at this point Assassin Doodle games take a little bit of skill and more luck.

I think there are actually relatively few maps that could not support more than 8 player games. New world, a conquest map, could easily support 10 players. The Hive could support 20, lol... and I have a feeling that if we get more players, there will be no shortage of mapmakers willing to make maps that can accommodate more players. Heck, mapmakers tend to jump on any new feature that allows them to do "something new" ;)

Anyway, what kind of argument is that, "all maps can't support more than 8 players so we shouldn't allow >8 player games for any of them?" Weird logic IMO.

The only thing I hope is, even if >8 player games will become possible, I hope all new maps won't be required to cater for >8 player games.

Which would make it a great map choice for 3 triples team games.
I never thought of extending it to 11 and 12 players as well, but the idea does look appealing.

I agree it should not be a requirement on new maps. The whole reason I like the idea is to add options not to impose limitations or force compliance with 12 player games. I think some maps that are limited to less players will still be great. New or old.

I don't know how difficult it would be but if you choose 10,12 players or whatever, then could the map choices be reduced in the pull down menu to only include maps that won't have issues? If possible it might be faster to impliment it on one or two maps then add more as they become available.

Suggestion: Increase settings to allow for 10 player to play.

Specifics: See above.

Benefits: It would be fun to have 2v2v2v2v2 option available or 5v5. More options are ALWAYS nice.

Okay, I know I'm behind here so bear with me if I ask questions that have already been answered:
1. What about maps with starting positions?
2. What about small maps?
3. I think the color order should be:
--9: purple
--10: brown
--11: lime
--12: maroon
Just seems to make more sense having the less obscure colors come first.

That's all I have for now.

I'm not exactly sure about 2 and 3, but I know that for 1 there would be exclusions (ex.Feudal Epic would not hold any 9-12 player games, and New World would not hold any 10-12 player games).

Question (I haven't read this thread):

If 12 players is approved, will this result in the forming of the gametypes: Quintuples and Sextuples?






If people abbreviate Doubles as Dubs, Triples as Trips, and Quadruples as Quads, what will Quintuples and Sextuples be abbreviated as?


Really looking forward to asking people if they want to set up some "Quints" and "Sexes." :lol:
