no, what is then - intelligent design? don't see why evolution bothers christian so much cause it can be easily incorporated in your religion. when will come the time when you'll stop interpreting bible so literally? maybe you'll start claiming that earth is the centre of universe and unicorns exist? haven't heard of metaphores and allegories?

Jay! I loved this thread. This thread was one of the reasons that I started to question whether Christianity was true. I never thought it would come back though.

Man, I joined a little after this thread died out...pity. Nothing better than a good old religion debate.

Actually Tyr did it.

"And after three months the thread was resurrected and posting ensued." (me, just made it up)

Isn't it nice what you can do with quotation marks? Things look so much more important when you put them around a sentence.

Hot topic maybe, but unutterable balderdash nontheless.
I confess i couldnt be elbowed to go through the whole thread.
But Jay's initial argument is a vresion of the cosomological argument, which DOESNT WORK.

Put simply:
Every_ thing has a cause.
Everything doesnt.
Ther could be lots of Gods, or none at all...

See Hume, Dialogues of Natural Religion.

It's very straight foward, people.

Everything in life is left up to each individual. What choices we make are completely up to us.

If you choose to live by the word of God, you therefore believe in God.

If you choose to live by your own assumptions, you therefore don't believe in God.

If you believe in God but don't choose to live by his words, you therefore are a hater of God.

Everybody on earth can be classified into one of these three groups.

These are facts. You can not dispute them.

If anybody can find legitimate fault with what I've just wrote, please let me know.

The fact that they are assumptions is your main error...

Now science has said, Life cannot come from non-life. Which is common sense... a rock will never reproduce since it is not living.

Then you trace back all life to its orgin...the very first living thing.

Where did it come from?

The ONLY answer is someting or someone has always existed. And that someone or something must have the power to create (or reproduce).

There must be a God.

Science also dictates evolution could never have happened (but lets save that for a later thread).

Bullshit. Obviously you have studied science. That is just logic. You're using premises to create contradiction (paradox).

Its not logic. The argument was logically disproved eons ago.

Never disproved. Prove that "Life can come from non-life"...waiting. We already went through the prehistoric ooze and lightning thing with vtmarik. Doesn't hold water. Everything that is, must have an orgin. (apart from God) You can't exist and not exist at the same time. Indeed...Logic dictates that there is a God.

By that SAME logic, god would have an origin too. And we would go on till the end of time arguing about it.
