In my mind it was a fairly scrappy game - lots of kicking........ but then the finals normally are - still a lot of tension though!

As for the try - no it wasnt a try!

As for the bokke - WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!

And the first joke has arrived on my phone already.......

What do you call an Englishman holding the World Cup Trophy 2007?

The engraver!

Sorry but couldnt resist being a Springbok supporter!!

Wow, if anything, this thread makes me all the more aware of how alone I am here on CC, being 1 of like 10 South Africans in total. Well, anyway.... Nice one Bokke !! Wooohooo !! Bringin' home the trophy !! :D :D

... phew, now that that's out of my system, well for the moment at least, i can talk normally again after grinning for so long. Yeah, it was far from the best game of rugby to watch, but it was still damn exciting. I just hoped so hard that it wasn't going to be a huge anticlimax, as they held up the trophy (that looked like the base had fallen off) and the kid started crying.... but anyways... :) :)

^ Love Table Mountain in your avvy.

That was an awesome world cup, albeit boring final.

I'm mainly disappointed that Habana didn't pull off a beautiful interception again. But, we won! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

all credit for that goes to Saki, one of our future stars, he really shut habana down last night, a real credit to himself

Don't think it was a try to be honest. His foot did touch the line then lift again... didn't think it at the time though...

I disagree. I feel the leg was up before it hit the line and still up when the ball was down

but S.A were the better team and us winning would have been cruel on them

100% foot is down I'm afraid. In the second shot you can see the divot of earth where it disrupted the line.

Yer, definately not a try. South Africa deserved to win, they were the better team on the day.

Argentina pwned France in the 3/4 match though.

Ahhhh...so good to see the boys bringing home the cup. I'm still feeling fragile from the celebrations 8)

Not the most exciting final, but i was on the edge of my seat for most of the game anyway...I thought stuart dickonson was going to award the try just for the fact that south africa was playing but 4 once he seemed to be unbiased  but the guy who pushed percy into the camera should have been yellow carded...it was completely unnecessary & he could have injured.

1 or 2 of the penalties we took I thought we could have gone for the line-out (where we dominated) closer to the line & push over for the try, but on the other hand if we had landed up losing by 3 points then we'd all say how dumb they were

I was very impressed with the 3rd place playoff, argentina played some fantastic rugby & completely deserved to win...

Please.. USA would never win a World Cup unless all the better teams just slumped to nothing, even then USA would have a hard time to win.

I don't even know why they're in it..

The push into the camera was nothing. They were both running, it was an instinctive thing. You don't really think when you're past the tryline.

Plus it was an amazing moment. He deserved it really just for being such a good kicker :D Smug cunt...

And yeh the third place playoff was a brilliant match.

Montgomery was obviously injured though... don't know why they didn't take him off when they have Steyne as well - he played really well - amazing talent.

Diddle - you say Saki is a talent for the future. Well I've got news for you: I think he's already 28 so that was his prime. Sorry

Meh. Next world cup he'll fit our average age perfectly (32 this time I believe). Robinson's played some of his best rugby into his 30s.
