i never said it is crappy. :x
this map is clearly well above standard. if it weren't i wouldn't bother to nitpick it. on a crappy map you can't nitpick you just come and say it sucks and it needs a complete makeover.
anyway chaos already pmed me so i told him her what my thoughts were.

Could chaos post some of the additional discussion items here? Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this map, but am curious about other possible improvements that may be out there.

2. the title letters have a bit of a fuzziness around their border. it could use being crisper especially because lack will compress your image to about 75-80% its current quality and all that fuzziness will look much worse than it looks now.

3. the little ship on the right side goes over the border, the bird's tail in bottom left goes over the border and the yellow greetings in top left corner go over the border too. but the branch that the bird sits on, the leaf from the branch and the flowers go under. this is not a technical problem but rather a matter of taste. personally i'd like them to be consistent and have all of them under the border.

Thank you DiM, feedback is much appreciated....

the first two need fixed yes. the last one I like how it is

I don't know how to get the title crisper.. and it bothers me. any suggestions to that? I tried stroke, but that doesn't do it..

that's fine with me. as i said it's more of an artistic subjective thing and when it comes to this the map maker is generally given the right to do as he pleases.

i have no idea what your layers are and what you have there or even how you obtained that image. i mean, i know you extracted it from an old postcard but the extraction method is very important.
anyway the easiest method without having access to layers is to simply take a 2-3 px brush and draw over that fuzzy area.
the letters are bulky and with lots of straight lines so even with a mouse it should be very easy to trace over them especially if you zoom in on each letter. i suppose many other methods can be found but this one seemed the easiest.

3px black

2px black

2px lighter black
Image
2px the shade of grey that you have on the other letters

Some good suggestions. I also like #3 the way it is, so glad to see it is staying.

Looking again at the map, the region names in some areas look a little overpowered by the white highlight...mostly in South Coast and Atlantic City I think, and it might have more to do with the continental colors (since the other bonus zone region names look a little better).

This is the only thing I'd have left to say, but I'm pretty well pleased with the map either way. Hope to see it soon!

If the ferry on the right is a region in its own right - as I gather from the legend at the bottom-left - perhaps it should have a name which is shown on the image ?

EDIT: same applies to the road.

Also, is Trenton a part of the Delaware River bonus ?
I assume not, but sometimes things need spelling out in a pedantic way.

the dice are beside atlantic city and the couple in swimwear are close to ocean city, but the cow is almost as far as possible from south jersey.

alright foundry people, whats the f*ckin hold up? you got your new update/toys, but how do u expect to retain mapmakers, or lure new ones when you do nothing?

you've officially killed all my desire to persue mapmaking... way to go...

tell me what needs done, or put this into beta. just do something, anything...

Patience my friend is a virtue. It is probably nothing you need to do but with the amount of beta maps we have right now, do you really want yours lost in all of the mix.

with all the crazy complex maps out there you want the word 'Boat' and 'Interstate' added to the map? And same goes for Trenton. i think its obvious that its not part of any bonus, its a totally different color from the surrounding area and its a +1 auto deploy. this map is simple and straightforward. if people can play/understand das schloss this one is a walk in the park...

is there somewhere that says cc can only have X amount of maps in beta at any given time? show me...

as for patience, i have none left, i used it all while waiting a month to have the foundry check a couple lines of xml...

There is nothing to say x amount of beta maps but that is not what I said.

As for adding the interstate and boat wording onto the map itself, why not do it? You cite Das Schloss as a map, but a lot of people do not play it for its complexity. Trenton can stay as it. That is bloody clear.
