Re: Austro-Hungarian Empire - Update 26-Aug - Pg.2
I love the graphics. I think you should keep the natural colors, like you said. It's unique to this map, and it's easy on the eyes. I love it. I do think it's kind of hard to see the bonus regions, but I'll manage.

dalmatia was part of austria, not of bosnia. are u able to re-draw the border so that bosnia retains its distictive triangular shape? if dalmatia is added, then the bonus for austria naturally becomes +4 or +5 for 7 regions (instead of +3 for 6).

agreed. 3 neutrals for the two capitals and 2 for non-capitals is more sensible.

Great map, but I think bonuses MUST be increased to improve gameplay.

All I can say this looks nice and ready
Maybe add some buildings for some variation?

Some minor changes:
Update 07 Sep
[bigimg]http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/3/21/2373685/small2.png[/bigimg]
German names are now in german, Hungary names are in hungarian etc etc...
Agree, i'm working on drop percentages i think that everything will work with the next update. About capitals, no more 5 neutrals. (will change in the next update)
I will try
Done
Thank you for all suggestions.
The next update comes soon.
Update 07 Sep
- All names of austrian empire are in german now
- Damatia is a part of austrian empire (added also on the minimap)
- Austrian bonus changed +4 for 7
- Shape of Serbia
- Dalmatia mountain moved to south
- Removed flags for capitals and added a small (and temporary) castle
- Now you have +1 autodeployed if hold a capital (maybe will change again)
- Some borders fixed
- Different green for land
- Increased visibility of zone border
- You have to hold all bosnia for bonus (3/3)

Having a bonus for holding both capitals makes perfect sense.
Totally agree with Helix, capital regions should get their names from the cities. And yes, 5 neutrals are to high, I'd drop it to 3.

Re: Austro-Hungarian Empire - Update 7Sep09 - Pg.3
you should invert Bosnia and Galicia text colour so Dalmatia is clearly not part of Bosnia
the 2 colours of Bosnia and Austria are too similar now
it is also better if you reorder your bonus legend in a geographical order like this

NIce looking map
I like the use of build-your-own bonuses.
The above point about colours is worth considering - the colour for Bohemia is so close to the background land colour that it loos like just white text. I like the graphics for the sea particularly. That lake is looking a bit dark perhaps?

Hey,
This map looks very good! Great progress has been made, I see.
A small suggestion for gameplay and/or graphics - how about adding some major railways?
Keep up the good work!

Update 06 Oct
[bigimg]http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/3/21/2373685/small3.png[/bigimg]
Done
I don't like the idea, now bonuses are listed from smallest to largest...i think that mixing values make eberything more chaotic.
The new color is good ?
I don't like the idea to have railways, but thank you for the suggestion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now the two capitals are SP with an underlying neutrals. These regions will start neutral in all games but not in 1vs1. (2 thrones theme in 1vs1 games). Random drop for all other regions.
With 40 starting regions i don't see big problems, except for games with 6 players (player will start with 6), but i can fix it later if it is a real issue.
I did some test with the bonus. With the current number only Bohemia could be a problem:
Results with 4 total regions and 3 required:
2 players --> 9% that A player will start with this bonus and 18% that ANY player will start with the bonus
3 players --> 9% and 28%
4 players --> 4% and 16%
All other results (see the spoiler)
[spoiler=3 required][bigimg]http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9762/67093782.jpg[/bigimg][/spoiler]
If this is a problem i can change the bonus in 4 regions 4 required with the bigger percentage to start with a bonus around 1,56% (see the spoiler)
In this case i have to change the bonus value to +2? and in the same way galicia and transylvania +3?

geographical order is to make easy for someone to find which region get which bonus
if you really want to keep your numeric order
then you have to put the names of regions on the map
so one can find what bonus you got when you hold Temes + Hunyad + Maros-Torda + Csik + Hàromszèk by example
because nobody is supposed to know its transylvania
and your colour code is to weak to make the link

I have to agree with pamoa with this as the colours do pose a slight problem having the order of the bonus go in geographic order makes it easier to figure out which is which
other than that why has that draft room supervisior not stickied this awesome looking map

i'm planning some changes but while i'm working on the next update, i'd like to hear some fresh suggestions about any possible gameplay improvement.

Cool! Nice to see a map of this caliber back in business
That being said, I think it'd be nice to have more than just the territory names colored to show the bonus areas on the map.

First of all, it's not Zagrab, but Zagreb, and it's displaced. It should be in Belovar's place.
You could add that the Bosnian regions are neutral, as Bosnia became part of Austria-Hungary in 1908. - right before the WWI. Holding Croatia and Slavonia could be worth +2 (since they did have a certain level of autonomy). The regions are: Zagreb, Belovar, Pozsega and Lika-Kravaba.

Re: Austro-Hungarian Empire - [coming back to life]
Idea is great. I just want to say something about the names.
I'm from Croatia, so I must warn u
.
First of all: it's not Zagrab but Zagreb and it's misplaced. Real Zagreb is exactly on your border between Zagreb an Belovar. U can redraw the border more to the south and then u'll have Zagreb on the north and Karlovac on the south. Also, Belovar is Bjelovar if u want to keep this name of the territorry.
2. Poszega is ok but it will be more correct to call it Slavonia or Slavonien in German
3. Lika-Kravaba does not mean anything. Kravaba does not exist. U can call it only Lika. Krbava (u wrote Kravaba) is river in Lika
4. Dalmatien- it's ok if u want to have german names, but also u can call it Dalmatia
great job by now, hope that it will be soon playing on it. best regards

That's kinda what I said, isn't it?
Yeah, I was also wondering what's Kravaba, but since I'm not from Croatia I assumed it was just my lack of knowledge, but it obviously isn't.
Znas, pretpostavlja se da ime Zabrega potice od zagrabiti, tako da je mozda ovo neko namerno napisao, ali posto vidim ostale greske, sumnjam.

english please!
Anyway, thank you for all your suggestions
Maybe i've taken the names from a wrong map, but i don't remember exactly...maybe it's just a typo.
I should be able to post an update in a couple of days....and just to be sure i'll recheck all names

Re: Austro-Hungarian Empire - [coming back to life]
My family is from Sud Tirol on the map. That isn't how it's spelled. Its Südtirol in German or Alto Adige in Italian. However the whole region should be called Trentino-Südtirol as this reflects the region shown.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trentino-Alto_Adige/Südtirol
Check the map on the top of the page.
Edit- Copy and paste it into the search bar. The forum doesn't like the umlaut.

Re: Austro-Hungarian Empire - [coming back to life]
It was written without the umlaut just because it was more simple for me to write (with the italian keyboard layout) on a map draft.
The definitive version will have the umlaut.
