I wasn't condemning his tactics, rather I was just using him as an example of somebody who is good at a certain game type. No matter how questionable his strategy may be, you must admit that King Herpes is indeed a "specialist" at that map...

This is hilarious. 'The free Ride is Over' more than just suggests that the objective is to force teams that wait for randomn opponents to play proper opposition. That isn't a 'conclusion I came up with', that's what Fitz wrote. You, a chap who has played 10,000 (thanks for the clarification btw) games as team 1, are now making efforts to get those numbers down having 1. probably caused more of this kind of backlog than anyother player - yes I saw your 'I need more open slots to start even more games as team 1' recent sugs and bugs piece (which suggests the kind of about face not seen since Gordon Brown eliminated the 10p tax rate) and, most importantly, 2. are associating yourself with an effort 'the free ride is over' (you can't get away from that johnny) to force farming teams to play more competitive games.

To repeat, I agree with the concept here. However, it still smacks of gross hypocricy for Fitz to claim he is coming down hard on the exact behavior he has perpetuated on CC for years. You may not see that as YOUR aim in this case (playing ridiculous numbers of games is I am sure your main aim as always), but for Fitz especially, a poster I in general quite like, I find it hard to understand how he cannot see the inherent contridiction in championing true competitiveness on CC NOW, while having benefited from doing the exact thing he is now criticising for years. Did HE ever have to face really solid opposition jumping into all of HIS games when he was on one of his 'make a thousand points from 2.1 dubs binges?' He didn't consider this issue when HE was setting up 50 2.1 dubs games in the past?

Im actually a little insulted you didnt see this for the obvious toungue-in-cheek proposal that it is...I assure you...most did...but since you didnt, let me address this misdirected chastising of my joke/challenge point by point...so we can perhaps move on. Ive not built any reputation by starting world 2.1 foggy games. I play those because they are the most fun game on here in my opinion. Its also, what I consider to be the most fair map on the site. There are no tricks, no secret doors, or attacks, or bonuses, or sneaky ways to win....its just a big classic map of the world. I play it because I know that a new player off the street can beat me on their first day, as many have, and many will continue to do. Ive also set up thousands of others on countless maps and settings....as I already pointed out and have never once hid that, or suggested otherwise. You might want to take a quick peak at the thousands of other games ive set up along the way, including the thousands of random partners ive joined with and played with.

Also, I admit that ive been part of the problem in the original post, so condemning me for something I openly admit is just silly. I already took care of that. Further, to think im stupid enough not to think the people of CC have not seen the thousands of team games Ive had waiting is well, just disappointing. Im also not looking for some kind of medal here, or recognition...This was made in the hopes of getting others to do it too..and as always shake it up a bit...with a bit of ironic humor...that...well...apparently not everyone can see for themselves...

More importantly. This is being done in the interest of competition. Its being done in the interest of fun. Its being done in the interest of making the game more fun for all. Now those are the kinds of things I hope any reputation I have reflects and always has reflected.

This is not some farming plan to strip bad teams of points. This is a suggestion for all good teams to make it the site more challenging for other teams. There is no doubt I will lose points from this, there is no doubt I will spend lots of time losing those points, and put lots of work into losing points, and losing games. I think its worth it though.

However, the goal, is to eliminate some of the 1800 waiting team games, in the interest of making CC more fun, and more challenging. If you feel this hurts my supposed reputation, then so be it. But I think youve completely misunderstood the point of this endevour.

Also, the person I started on was JR himself, by joining a bunch of his open triples games...again, knowing full well it would probably cost some points.

Also, there are no innocents here. When someone makes a game, anyone can join it. Im just suggesting that since there are 1800 team games out there waiting for teams...that some established teams, join them, and raise the bar here.

Finally, If you cant see the fun in this, I dont know what to tell you. Anyone that knows my "so called reputation", knows thats what this is all about.

Theres an obvious, purposeful, and blatant hypocracy to this. But since that's half of the point in the first place, Inst pointing it out a bit self-righteous.....well.. maybe misguided is a better word....since I point it out myself, both directly, and indirectly in a very obvious way, that no one could possibly miss? Well it would be a bit rich for me to criticise you for being long-winded, as I am well aware I suffer from that same fault at times too. I wouldn't want to bandy around the word 'hypocritical', only to have it thrown back, quite justifiably, on to me.

Believe it or not, I actually read your posts quite carefully, and I was well aware of the cirumstances involving JohnnyRockets's desire in sugs and bugs to increase his games waiting to 100. I was also quite aware that you saw the hypocricy (that word again!) in your post in the first place.

So why get on your back?

1. You might like to think that if you write 'I know I am being hypocritical' that somehow exonerates you from being hypocritical. It doesn't. The fact that you are aware of it merely proves that you are not an idiot. It is rather like when someone says 'I don't mean to be offensive but...' and then proceeds to be offensive.

2. If you had titled your thread 'Let's get those waiting games numbers down!' I would have probably let it go. But, 'The free Ride is Over' suggests a 'let's clean up the streets' motif which frankly, in this case, you are in no position to run with. Your title suggests your thread has more to do with just getting waiting games down, but rather has a sense of increasing the competitiveness of CC. That's what I am calling you on. Why do you have the right to organise players to increase the competitiveness of other player's games when you spent years doing the exact same thing and more often than not, I would think, to a greater extent than a lot of the players you are now targeting? Just because NOW you aren't setting up 50 waiting public dubs games you can go batman on us?
3. When YOU were concerned with pushing up to brig. (or whatever) I am sure you were hoping for lot's of wins to get you there. I am sure a lot of the players you are targeting are hoping to do the same thing. Yet now you ('I can lose 1,000 points no bother') are attempting to stop other players from doing what you did before because, having already achieved YOUR GOALS you see no problem with disrupting THEIR GOALS. So I am forced to add heartlessness to the hypocricy!

Perhaps I did in fact built a batcave, and donned a carbonfiber suit, and named a sidekick JohnnyRobin, in some crazy scheme to assault the gothem Teams of CC However, If you think I am doing so seriously as a crusade, and not as a halloween costume for some fun... again...I dont know what to tell you.

If on the other hand you are somehow scared that I am such a good team player that I can single handedly wipe out all the other good teams and steal their points...or worse, that I think I am...well...foe me, then laugh...if you have that capability...because at this point...im starting to wonder

Well it seems that we both probably feel that each of us is failing to address the other's point (though I think I made a little more effort to do so than you did).

I have no intention of repeating myself and I don't wish you to do so again either. My views are on record and whether that paints me as the 'party pooper' or the 'crusader against hypocricy(known be damned!)' is something for others to judge!

yes.. as admitted. We are part of the problem AND will continue to set up games.

Perhaps what you may just be missing here though is...I am suggesting other teams go joining settup games....one might realize that that would include.....................wait for it.....

I had 50 in waiting which is why i could not create any more. Fitz asked me to join games with him to decrease the games in waiting status instead of asking for the level to be increased to 100. I agreed. There are still 24 games left waiting to be filled. I never dropped them so the the players dont feel I left them hanging. Hope that answers your concern.

yes...I know...the same could easily be said about most of the things I say...

Yet another reminder of why I just don't play teams any more. If I do, it will only be to get medals.

What I would like is to let those of you who have set teams challenge and play each other, but also let those of us who don't simply play together in random teams without knowing we face a championship team.

In the general games, there seems to be a sort of "unwritten rule" that those of very high rank won't join the low-ranked games. It should not be different in teams. Competition is fine, wonderful, but why should the rest of us have to play private games to venture into the team front?

Reading the above, I felt like the slightly drunk guy sitting at the western saloon bar when the clink of spurs on the dusty street assails my ears, the saloon doors swing open, the light dims as you, johnny and others (Alan Ladd, Clint Eastwood, James Coburn, the Duke..you know them, all the usual suspects) fill the doorway. At this point I look at my whiskey and think "Shit, bang goes the neighbourhood"
