Two things, try using the text box to write and also use the circle tool and all that

Also maybe edit the title to Crater Map so people take this seriously

Looking over the first post two things come to mind:
a) if holding the center spot for one turn means victory, there's no point in it being an autodeploy. You'll never get the troops from it. Along with this, you probably need to start thinking about where your starting points are and making sure they're fair.
b)i personally dislike bombardment. But you really don't need to know that, since you're not just throwing it in. As far as i'm concerned, it works for your map so you should stick with it.

you are right, maybe there could be an auto deploy when there are neutrals at the start???

The bottom section of that image is the closest to an overhead shot of what is probably the best known impact crater around the world. If you don't fancy that for a background you could shift the theme to the Moon instead, this is a nice big image that you can modify to your hearts content, then shrink down to a reasonable size after you've added all your funky detail to it.

EDIT:
Just read some of the other posts, definitely need to make the map irregular(but balanced) to keep player interest. How about making it a Lunar Colonies theme map? You've got zones you can conquer plus there's an autodeploy bonus region at the centre or some description(power source, lunar wonder material, etc).

i dunno,

I kinda just thought there should be a map where people are just fighting to the death for the center. and the war part where eveybody was just rushing towards it.

ill definatly consider it if people insist, but i think i'll stick with conquer crater, its unique...Image


this is actually a good view, if we can find a royalty free image. I specifically like the bottom one =D>

maybe a graphic artist could take it and make look a little more refined or artsy, and add a dazzling night sky.

i was thinking we could maybe harness the style of the artists from feudal war, circus maximus, siege or oasis. can you guys look at these maps and tell me which one youd think is appropriate for the crate map. remember, we are looking for an sketchy landscape

I think what we really need is to harness a designer, this map really needs a artist.
For texture I was thinking something earthy and dusty

Just want the gameplay completely worked out before I start the graphics. I don't really enjoy working through gameplay.

But if sinctheassasin could have a finished explanation of the gameplay, I can do the graphics.

oh right! oasis.

well, does anybody else wanna have a say in the gameplay? no? ok then, wcaclimbing, you see the draft on the first post? well, draw a crater, and make sure there is room for all of that

on the outer ring: draw some sort of assassins aiming towards the center

on the bombard-all spots: draw artillary cannons

on the regular spaces: draw troops of different colors

on the center ring: draw jeeps

on the center: draw a green glowing crystal

k? get to work, if we like it, you are in for the job

the main focus of the map is to take control of the center and hold it for 1 turn.
the middle territ, however, cannot attack, and gains 1 autodeploy each turn.


Bit of conflicting info there.

When you start your turn and hold the middle, you win, right?
Then the auto-deploy doesn't even matter. cause you will win at the same time you get those armies.

it starts as neutral, and if you let the center sit too long, it will become unattainable, and you have to fight it out the old fashined way

Sort of like the AOR map, where the neutrals keep getting bigger until the center

That suggested thing with the neutrals doesn't work atm.

Here's a suggestion for gameplay/theme:

    Base the map on an exploration into a crater. Everyone could start in their own mining camp, and it would be a competition between mining groups to reach the center of the crater where something is buried (idk, fossil, etc.). You could have resources to gain, teams, etc. That might be too complicated, though. Just to give a theme to the map, I think exploration would work well. Without something, a bland crater doesn't really do it for me …

I say stick to your original plan and make it to be characterized with an asteroid, I like the idea of players being forced to work to the center. Like Oasis, you start with territories around the edge and work in

yeah. well, all we can do is wait for the artist
