A player select the column first, then if he wins, his colored chip is placed in that column, if he looses, then his opponent's.

Ok, next question then...which player is selecting the column, or are both? If both, does that mean that there are actually TWO chips placed for every game won?

Win or Lose, the players alternate choice. first player chooses; then winners chip goes in the column chosen. then the second player chooses, and the winners chip goes in the column chosen, and so on and so forth...You will understand better as the tournament gets underway. I had the very same questions for Yeti when we started last time. I thought I would drive him nuts.
Game 1 Player A chooses column - winner gets the column
Game 2 Player B chooses column - winner gets the column
Game 3 Player A chooses column - winner gets the column
Game 4 Player B chooses column - winner gets the column
