You gotta hand it to Canada. What other country has the US tried and failed to invade on three separate occasions?

Canadians don't live that close to the American border because we feel the need to be close to you. Most of our largest cities are along the Great Lakes water system, just like in the USA. It is because of industry and trade. Not because you guys are cute.
Trust me...Canadian's are not American "wana be's". Many pride themselves on not being American...and also using capital letters and proper grammar. (Firefox has a built in spell check...use it)

You can bash Canada all you like. It seems to be the defense system Americans put up to reassure themselves that their country is still the greatest. Can't have another country in the world being looked upon glowingly...especially one so close to them.

Your buffoonery is astounding; and I can only hope that most here don't lump you in with most Americans.

Canada is a beautiful country, BTW.

I know it doesn't really count, but in the 1870's a group of Irish vets from the War Between the States formed the Fenian Brotherhood to attack Canada and draw off British troops from Ireland to increase the chances of a successful rebellion there. Like I said, I know it doesn't really count, but I like cheering for the Irish.

What I've seen of Canada is quite beautiful. Of course, it was limited to the Falls when I was 6. I hope to drive through from the East Coast to Fairbanks and beyond someday.

Funny stereotypes about Canada make me laugh. Believe me we can poke fun at ourselves. (I love hockey, my kids learned to skate weeks after they learned to walk, I wear a toque in the winter, I use "eh" quite a lot, I understand and enjoy the sport of curling, I believe universal health care is a given right, we have lots of snow, I love my beer, etc) None of your posts contained a funny stereotype though. Just ignorant comments from someone who obviously knows nothing about Canada. I would have laughed had there been something worth laughing at.
This is funny...

Up until a few years ago Michigan was receiving Toronto's trash by the truck load. Literally hundreds of trucks a day! In 2005 14% of all trash deposited in Michigan landfills was Canadian. Fortunately that's stopping in 2010 due to Michigan legislation. So where does that put Michigan? I'm afraid to ask.

BTW Canada is a very nice place. Glad its my neighbor as far as neighbors go. Fairly quiet, lots of trees, plenty of moose, great fishing, usually minds their own business, and has really, really good beer. Neighbors with good beer is a positive thing.

I'm glad an American corrected that misinformed statement by jnd94. We do get some of America's airborne pollution, though. But I'm pretty sure we are the cleaner of the two countries.

It seems there are two types of Americans, with regard to their feelings of Canada. Those that have been here - they usually are very fond of Canada. And those that have not been here - they usually don't have a lot of good things to say. So whose opinion holds more merit?

Im so fond of Canada cause Im from Michigan... AKA lower Canada (edit) Hey we love hockey and all that stuff eh, and the beer is great too. I was in Canada last week too...(end edit)

I used to live in Whitefish, Montana, about a 45 minute drive from the border. I lived there for two years, however by the time I had gotten there I already had a bit of a Chicago accent. So my friends from Calgary who had a summer home 3 houses down from me would make fun of the way I say Hockey. So in response, I would say eh any time they did.

Here's a funny one eh?

If you get a chance, you should go down to the ring of Kerry. I was there on January third 2006, and it was like the tropics. There's some small pall trees, tropical birds. It was hilarious!  Also, the N 71 is just a really nice drive.
