the color thing has already been mentioned to me and i am working on it.
and your second idea is interesting but i will have to see what happens, i am going to try a new layout with an insert and see what happens.

I hate the suns, please change that symbol and maybe change the texture, I am not a huge fan of the texture.
Great Idea!

nice map Tyler, i like the idea and the graphics. It might look cooler with more shadows and a bigger minimap

Otherwise, it looks pretty good.
Take off the background though, that just makes it look cheesy. The background on the original map is good.
i made the post before your post.
Do you mean the blue background or just white.
Anyways i will try to come up with another idea(for background)
tlane
The blue background looks really good, the wave effect you did is nice.
As an Alaskan, trust me, the other background looks cheesy.

I am going to change the symbols but i think i am going to keep the background unless other anyone else has something to say, it also seems that some people(including me) really like the background

I will try to add more shadows in places that it will look good.
The minimap is hard to make bigger, just because of its shape and the few free areas there are on the map

Re: Alaska V3 - pg2
Looks better!
Now the map cover the whole space.
But the inset is very large and attack routes on the main map are difficult to distinguish.
I suggest you to chose if you wanna develope the legend or the minimap, both them are redundant.
I have some concerns about army circles ( make a test ) and about ketch. very close with the right border.
I'll gonna check your bonuses, probably you need to fix them, but i need to know if kodiak island connect with egegik or with alaskan peninsula, not so clear
On the whole i think you're on the right way!

Re: Alaska V3 - pg2
I am still trying to decide if i am keeping the minimap of the legend but i currently did both so people wouldn't get confused if the colors were to similar(is that a problem).
I am also making the attack routes clearer, and Kodiak Islands does connect to Egegik
Too clear the bonus's up, the current ones are just guesses i put in for place holders, they will probably change
thanks

Re: Alaska V3 - pg2
it might be due to my extreme colour blindness but have multiple shades of blue makes the far north and south west look all the same colour shading i.e. Noatak and Aniak look the same as well as Emmonak is the same as Barrow once again this could be only me due to the rarity of my colour blindness
if you want to keep the different shades either you could have far north go from the legend colour to a white making Nulato Hills the lightest and that should clear it up. but i would prefer to see just one colour for each
other then that and the size issue when it come to army numbers

Re: Alaska V3 - pg2
It may be partially your color blindness but there are a lot of people on the site that have that, so i am going to change the colors so they are a bit more different and if it is still a problem later on then i think i will call it to a vote if i should keep different shades.
Also for the army numbers I am not going to have circles on this version(the small version) but I may put them on the large version. If people disagree with this then I will maybe takeout a few territories so i can fit army circles.

I like the graphics and classic gameplay, but feel that it may be a bit cramped. You have to fit 22px army circles in somewhere and that could be difficult, particularly in that bottom right bonus.

I think that we have to see a version with 88's before we can decide...

I'm not an expert but it looks ready to go I can imagine playing it just fine just as long as its huge on my screen so I can determine the regions, GOOD WORK

I would say make the mini map look good and you will have a great looking map, nice inset and stars, maybe make them fit in more

i will work on the mini-map, but there is not to much i can change about it, considering there is limited room and mini-maps are not usually very graphical.
when you say "make them fit in more" i think you are referring to the stars and inset(tell me if i am wrong). If so i will work on them both a bit more, but for the inset i need some ideas.

Re: Alaska V3.1 - pg3
The graphics are continually improving here... I've just been looking at pictures of Alaska to try and get a feel for the area... the maps I've been looking at don't appear to have so many boroughs/territories... I don't know whether this is a problem or not - just making the observation

The other thing that I thought of, was that you could experiment with using some element of the Northern Lights in the background... it might look tacky, but if you're looking for further inspiration you might be able to ghost some in subtley?
The main restriction on your space is the fact that the Aleutian Islands extend so far out on their own. I wonder if you might have more success if you crop them down a bit... You could then include an inset of the wider area (similar to how gimil did on British Isles?)

The inset you have is overly large, and might not even be completely necessary:

From a gameplay perspective, you have two bottleneck regions at the bottom - you can hold the entire Aleutians and the Juneua region by holding a single territory each. The concern for me is that both of these bottleneck areas are fairly close allowing for relatively easy expansion - all the other regions require you to defend 5 territories for the bonus, so there is likely to be little competition at the start if you get a good Southern drop.

I think decreasing those bonuses and adding a border to each of them would work.
Also, the far North and Interior bonuses are too large

Re: Alaska V3.1 - pg3
Thanks for the comments Benn and Emperor,
I am taking both comments into the next version, and i wanted to get some comments on the new layout I am playing with.
[bigimg]http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp322/conquerlane/alaska4.jpg[/bigimg]
I would like to know if people like this new layout. I have taken out the inset and made the land much bigger, but in the process i cut off a few of the Aleutian islands(is this okay, i am pretty sure it is).
I want to make sure everyone knows this is not the next version just a preview of it

Nice work - I'd have a think if the corner region is really worth +4 - only one terit to defend from.
Nice title style.
