Hmmm... good point.

Yeah... I just read through the XML section of the Foundry and it appears you're right. There is however a request someone posted, which I've since seconded. So maybe down the road, but I'll remove it for now.

Thanks

The glow around all the words looks too sloppy, IMO. If this is a professional textbook, things would be highlighted in nice rectangular boxes. Unless the look you were going for was that the student highlighted them? I think having the highlight be part of the "original" book would look better.

I love the way you did your signature, btw.

Third Update:
Changed gameplay to comply with current XML capabilities and removed neutral starting information from the Legend.
Added some minor visual elements for more 'textbook' feel.

Yes, I made them intentionally loose and sloppy. I have never seen a professional textbook come 'pre-highlighted' with bright yellow, blue and pink highlights. From what examples I have seen, an image like this would only contain simple text labels.

The look I'm going for is that a biology or med student is studying, but gets bored and makes a game out of the human body. This is also why certain elements appear to be written in a red (LOVE) or blue (legend) pen.

I overall really like this map. Here are some ideas for your consideration...

1. Get rid of that picture in the corner, I like it but it doesn't fit with the theme.

2. Add knees or something down there, all the action is concentrated up top

3. Look at the NYC map, see how the subway lines have their own bonuses? I say make your different "routes" different bonuses

4. Give the woman her other hand

I think this is a great idea just keep working on it and it will become a fine map...

I dunno, it's good but maybe some opacity?

I agree — make them the patellas.

I don't really see what you're talking about — that's what the bonuses are already…

Not organs or bones but digestive or marrow!

The woman's left hand has no territory mark!

Hey, I just wanted to say that I love this idea. I have a map idea called "ecology" and maybe they could fit into a textbook series, with similar style.

There is one technical thing I did want to mention. "Veins" return blood to the hear. "Arteries" distribute blood from the heart. "Vessels" would be the general term including both veins and arteries. I think you want to use vessels here, But I may be mistaken.

Looking forward to the development of this one.

I like the textbook layout to it, and do agree that perhaps another territory could be used in the lower part of the body. Looking forward to see how this one ends up.

I like all your other suggestions, but disagree on this one. The idea is to capture the separate, but connected structures of the body - the veins and marrow, etc are only to illustrate how the territories connect. Certain territories - like the Heart - would then be crucial to receiving any bonus and I think that poses a problem with gameplay.

Your other suggestions will appear with the next update. Thanks!

Fourth Update:
Added 5 more territories* including Female Hand and Patella Bone (Kneecap) & Tailor (Sartorius) Muscle for both sexes.
*61 territories seems like an off number in regards to fair splits. If I removed the Female Hand again, it would be an even 60 - but I've had many requests for the Hand. Perhaps a poll is in order?
Upped "Bones" bonuses in accordance with additional territories. "Muscle" bonus remains the same due to ease of fortifying.
Changed "Veins" to "Vessels".

i think this gets past all the problems of past maps, such as sexual organs, whether the person would be male female etc, and thats good.

but i don't like all the lines, it makes it so jumbled i think... and the whole one way attacks also are going to be hard to follow.

Fith Update:
Removed "Breast" territory from Female Body. [INSERT JOKE ABOUT AMAZON WOMEN HERE] This makes a friendly, even 60 territories and also allowed me more space to spread the organs out in the thinner female frame. I've redone some of the connecting lines on both bodies and I believe this makes it much clearer.

is there any specific part of the map that is jumbled? and does the most recent change help at all? it looks pretty clear to me, but i have been staring at it for a while. :)

to clarify - the one way attacks are ALL muscles to ALL bones, not just by adjacent limbs. being so vulnerable is why the bones bonus is higher.

would it be better if muscles bombarded the bones instead?
