BaldAdonis wrote:This is a tournament for 2 player games designed to minimize the possible luck factors. As you might expect, this means not playing with cards, or with unlimited fortifications, and playing on maps that are large enough to give a mostly balanced drop. But even with these arrangements, the player who starts finds that he can win the majority of the time. So this tournament will dictate who begins each game, and opponents will play a series of games, each starting an equal number of times.

- Read all the rules.
- Read, and make sure you understand, the game play section. Game play is not standard, and you will be asked to forgo your turn on occasion.
- Settings are not concrete. After each season, maps may be reevaluated and new maps may be added. As well, the size of each division may change, but it will never go above 20, or below 12.
- Players who fail to comply with the game play rules will be given two warnings, and credited with a loss on the game. After two warnings they will be removed. Only one warning will be given for each series.
- Players should be able to decide which games to start, and which their opponents should start. Discuss this with your opponent via messages or game chat. If there is any disagreement, I will arbitrate.
- In foggy games, players must message me with their bonuses (if any) and I will decide who starts each game.
This is a 2 player tournament based on the Premier League. All games are sequential, no cards, with either chained or adjacent fortifications. In each season after the initial round, each player will face off against each other twice, once at home and once away, in a 6 game series each time. At the end of each season, players will be promoted/relegated based on their positions, with new players being added to the lower tier if there is sufficient interest.
To start, I will take 32 players and divide them into two tiers of 16. In the initial round, everyone will play everyone else in their tier once, in a 6-game series on a map from the list, with random settings. Scores will be tabulated, and I will relegate/promote players from one tier to the other based on performance. This may mean increasing/decreasing the size of the tiers. Once the tiers are established, players will choose home maps and settings from the list, and official seasons will begin. At the end of each season, players may change their map and settings.
In the first weeks, you will play one series a week. If things go smoothly and I find that players are able to finish faster than that, then game load may be increased.

The season will be balanced, so that you will see each player once before playing anyone a second time, and you will play as close to half of your home games in the first half as possible. The player with the most points at the end of a season will be crowned the winner.
Winning a series gives you 3 points. A loss gives you 0, and a tie gives each player 1. Your overall win-loss record for individual games will be recorded, as well as wins from second. Your standing is determined primarily by points, with the following tiebreakers:
- head-to-head matches
- total wins from second
- total wins
If a player drops out during a round or is removed, then any player who has not played against them is credited with two points. Wins against that player will not be counted in tie-break scenarios.

Both players will start three of the six games in their series. In order to ensure this happens, a player who is slated to begin a game (by the CC randomizer) but is not the designated starter (by the following rules) will be asked to start his/her turn and allow the clock to run out (one hour) without deploying any armies.
The following rules will be used to decide who starts each game:
- If one player has a bonus (or a bigger bonus in the case that both have one), then the other player starts that game.
- If one player has dropped (larger) bonuses in more than 3 games, then the first three created will be counted, with the second player starting. Additional games will be made until the first player can legally start 3.
- Both players must start 3 games in the series.
- If the players cannot decide between themselves how to divide the games, I will arbitrate.
- In the case of foggy games, players will be asked to PM me with the amount of bonuses they will receive, and I will post the starters in game chat.

*edit* I've changed the name so I can run a similar tournament for 6 players.
