Evita Peron of Argentina (yes i know that Juan Peron was technically the dictator, but she did a lot of the "behind the scenes" planning

Well, they can't be called dictators but they were powerful women

And so one amazon warrior would be named... Alcinoe

Hippolyte (hip-all-it-ay) was one queen of the Amazons, and according to legend, gave Hercules a good fight (but he won).

She was in Shakespeare's
Midsummer's night dream

Really? I haven't read the play, we just learned about the twelve labors of Hercules in Latin class.

She's a minor role but she is in it and marries Duke Theseus

I see. Well she commands a mighty army, she better marry a duke.
Anyways in terms of goddesses, there were tons! Here's some (these are Roman names.... look up the Greek ones if you're interested):
~Venus, Goddess of Love and Beauty
~Minerva, Goddess of Knowledge and of War
~Juno, the Queen of the Gods
~Ceres, the Goddess of Agriculture --- that's where we get 'cereal'
~Diana, Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt
~Vesta, Goddess of the Home and Hearth, leader of the Vestal Virgins (Roman female preisthood)
These six joined six male gods (Apollo, Jupiter, Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Vulcan) in the dii consentes, the twelve gods most sacred to the Romans.

You know that basically every historical account we have about amazons and matriarchy was written by male, greece authors. Ancient Greece is not exactly famous for equal rights and things like that, in fact women had pretty much no rights at all as far as I am informed. Chances are that a society where they had any rights at all or performed tasks the author would see as "male" would be perceived as scandalous and as a result the descriptions become hugely exaggerated.

The Romans respected women, but didn't give them nearly as many rights as men received. But they weren't oppressed.
And if women fighting was 'scandalous', how come the Amazons made an appearance in the Hercules saga?

Pay attention, I said Greece, not Rome. I know roman women were comparatively well off.
As for their appearance in the story, how many stories (oral tradition, books, comics, etc.) do you know that contain some element that would be considered 'scandalous' in some way? I would venture to guess most of them. Things like that sell, or is retold, the parliament not reaching a conclusion after 2 weeks of discussion is interesting news, the parliament reaching a conclusion after 30 minutes isn't, and an earthquake will beat both of them combined. We don't want to hear about the mundane, we want something extraordinary.
