I'm against the idea of skipping turns in general but if you're going to do it, do it right. (By which I mean yes allow selection of number of turns).

I don't see why anyone needs to skip turns, surely you all must be able to trust at least one person who can take your turns in your absence.

But what if you are going to be gone for 2 day... not enough to deadbeat, you tell it to skip 2 turns and when you come back you have been kicked for deadbeating...
Or
What if you want to skip turn for extra armies? you could tell it to skip you, and then play right away also skipping the no doulbes turns rule?

A 'Vacation Setting' is currently on the To-Do list, which will cover this.

I believe that if there were a skip button for those that do not play on weekends or know they are going to miss turns for whatever reason, it would cut back the complaints about deadbeaters because the games would flow more smoothly

Deadbeat button

I know deadbeats are a big problem. I don't have the solution for all deadbeats but I do for the ones that use it as a strategy. There should be a button and it should say would you like to skip your turn. They click that so then they do not have to waste everyone's time and they still get their strategy and everyone's happy. And for the people who are scared they'd press the button by accident there can be a page you got to after you press the button that says are you sure.

its been suggested before. can't remember the outcome but i think that it was voted against because it would increase the use of skipping a turn as a tactic.

I've no problem with skipping a turn as a tactic, if they used a button like this. My only objection is having to wait a whole day with no action in the game.

I'm already a premium member, but I still get annoyed if I have to wait 24 hours in a specific game, especially if I have a good move lined up.

* note to self *

use that then, there isent much of a problem anymore, i mean you have limitless games, and a not to self buttom to remember turns.

its not a matter of forgetfulness, just impatience, I like to get on with the game, and if a game's building up to a good stage I don't want to wait about, even if I can play one of my numerous other games

I was like that for the last hour, i was waiting for FP to take his turn cause it was a sure win for me. When my turn came, I was so excited that i advanced my troops without thinking. He now has 1 army left, but 4 cards

EDIT: I have now won \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

This button would be just used if people wanted to skip turns for strategy so they would get their extra armies but they wouldn't waste anyones time they would just skip their turn get their armies and their next turn and the game would move on.

Pretty much any variation on this idea would be abused severly

People miss their turns for stratey so instead of making people wait so they can miss their turn this is just used. I don't understand how that can be abused.

A skip turn button is already on the to-do list under pending.

Skip Turn Button

There are people that skip their turn on purpose to win the bonus of missed turns...

so, I propose two options:

1. End of Bonus for Missed Turns
To finish with skipping turns on purpose, and to punish the laggers of games

2. To create a "SKIP" button at the side of "BEGIN" button
To make games more fast and to give another option of strategy

it would indeed make it easier for the 'legitimate' players to determine wether someone is deadbeating or trying to skip turns, and makes it more counterable.

as much as i hate seeing this tactic legitimized, it allows for people to prepare, does not waste their time, and does not punish people who legitimately miss turns

I agree

If people miss their turns they should loss the armies they would have received. I find it very annoying when people drag the game out endlessly like that. (well not literally endlessly but for a very long time)

I agree completely. Waiting 24 hours for the skipper to lose his turn is annoying. It is a stupid strategy anyway. I vote to make them lose their bonus armies. I also think there should be quicker ways to get rid of a deadbeat.

The Away Button

by misterman10
Suggestion: An away check box placed to the right of the feedback.

Specifics: A box that players can check when they know that they are not able to take their turn in a specific game. By checking the box, when it is your turn, after one hour that you have had the time to make your turn (or a different amount of time) your turn is skipped. By checking the box, however, you do not get your armies multiplied. There will be different away boxes for different games so if you are in a freestyle you can check the box but if you're in a sequential you don't need to check it. Perhaps, there could be a list of number of turns you want missed (such as the way you deploy armies)

Why it is needed: Everybody has a life and that means that things come up where you know you cant make it to a computer. If you are going on vacation and know you wont be able to log onto CC its frustrating to you and the other players in the game to have to wait. This will eliminate this problem.

Priority: 3

What does everyone think??

the only problem is that if someone knows they are going to miss a turn why would they check this box if they aren't going to get multiplied armies? I know I would not set it to away if I was denied multiplied armies.

If you could just click the box everything else the same AND the multiplied armies then people would acctually ues it and start using it as a viable strategy I am sure. Also I am sure that this topic has been brought up before (which still needs to be addressed).

I also think that if you miss a turn, then the next time your turn comes around you should have half the time in which to take your turn i.e. 12 hours instead of 24 then 6 if you miss a second time.
