I'm not too surprised with Doodle Earth's current streak. It's not for me at all, but I can understand why so many freemies would be RTing on it. I think it will probably continue this head of steam for some time.

doodle earth will continue it's current streak and will one day surpass world 2.1 the main reason for this is that the games last very few rounds so it's easy to play more.

I've looked at the last 3 weeks of data, and had some questions, which you might or might not be able to answer:
How often to games get archived, and how far back does this data go(is it by game number, or date)?
How many games or pages of games were generated each week(what are the total number of pages generated each week)?
Why are the number of games created each week going up so dramatically(Classic went from 75 new pages to 135 in two weeks)?

Archived...i doubt they do! but i'll check with Lackattack
Far Back: This data simply tells how many pages are generated by doing a simple search by map - no other criteria. If we look back on page 3263 of Classic at the very first game 1...it looks like it was intialized on 1 March 2006.
How many games or pages of games were generated each week
100 games per page.
(what are the total number of pages generated each week)?
refe these stats, that's what they're all about.
Why are the number of games created each week going up so dramatically(Classic went from 75 new pages to 135 in two weeks)?
Yes that sounds about right....it's all to do with the big increase in people joining this site i beleive...since i joined in Feb 2007 there has been about an increase of 40K-50K registered users. it was around 89K...now its 141K. And of course, Classic is still the most popular map.
Hope this helps.

Should it be saying:
"Map stats as at"
instead of:
"Map stats as of"
?

As at...is a standard expression used when referring dates....whichever way, i think it refers to the same thing.

Interesting. I've never heard it said that way. I will start using "as at" today!
Cool map stats BTW.

I am, as are I think many mapmakers who like to know what people want to play. Is this posted in the Foundry anywhere?
Thanks for the hard work.

it used to be at one stage done by hulmey and someone else i think but not at the mo...i was using it as part of that sticky that i hoped would help bring people into the foundry, but Andy never wanted to get it up there to be a sticky in GD.

I like the stats, but I think a better gauge is the total number of pages of active games. Even more accurate would be the total number of active games, not pages, although I know that may be too time consuming to count.
If they are ranked by active games, that will help the fact that older maps obviously have more games since they have been around long, it skews the relevant stats in my opinion.
And they should be ranked by total pages or total games, not movement, although movement should be listed. Also you have positive and negative movement mixed in, +6 is next to -6, this doesn't make much sense as they should be on the opposite ends of the spectrum..
I think the stats would be more useful that way.

Is this built with an excel file? If so could I have it for some analysis I want to run?
The1Coleman@hotmail.com would be as good a place as any to send it to.

Do with this what you will:
I was curious. And needed to see if Spinwizard was right or not in another topic. He was, but not to the degree he implied, 99 pages on average per abstract map is very decent.

Mibi...sorry but i'm very short at the mo....
the purpose of these stats was simply to see how many pages of games were played over a week/fortnight for each map.
Yes it would be nice to have the total number of games for each map, but this is simply a case of multipying each page x 100 for everything but the last page and then (time consumingly) counting the number of games on the last page.
I have always stated only measuring active games does not show a true indication of the number of games that get played on a map because of the fact that between stat periods, some games will start and end, and therefore never get included in the overall big picture if you are only counting active games.
Doing another stats division/breakdown of + or - games is simply showing movement in another fashion, that has to be calculated according to the previous periods movement. That for me is too much extra time calculation that somebody else can do if they like.
But for now it seems that some people do use this, so i will continue to compile these.
Next issue 18/11.
