I always liked your gameplay (on strategy basis) but i must say i was ready to go head to head on this and Son!c has a hard head

This conversation has become so unpleasant, I would hate for any more of my friends to get caught up in it.

I am sorry it looks bad to some people I have continued to play games with my friends who have a lower rank. But I am absolutely horrified at the behavior and language of several people here and want nothing more to do with it.

I guess i'm missing the whole point here.It seems to me that the way to get better and get more points is to PLAY AGAINST PEOPLE WHO ARE BETTER THAN YOU! But of course i don't want to give away any tricks.

IMO farming would be if he is doing it strictly for the purpose of gaining points and climbing the leaderboard. It seems here that he is just playing with a bunch of friends, who cares if they are lower ranks. Let the man play with friends as this is supposed to be a friendly sight, or did that change over the last 14 years?

Devante, I think your accusation is unfounded.

I am definitely not a high ranked player, and I’ve played a good number of 1v1 games with Joey. I’ve won some and lost some. The last time we played, I lost, to the tune of (gasp!) NINE POINTS!

I’ve played team games with Joey as well, both on his team and as an opponent. It’s struck me that those games have been pretty well balanced, rank-wise. If Joey had a cook on the opposite team, he had a cook on his team as well.

It’s true that some of those lower ranked players are players who Joey has brought to ConquerClub. Some of us know each other from other circles outside CC. We enjoy each others’ company and playing each other, and sometimes even helping each other learn how to play better. Son!c has always been a great competitor AND teammate as well.

And frankly, from what I’ve seen, I’m with Castor about not wanting to engage with a potentially unfriendly community. This complaint against Joey is an example. You accuse him of farming, with no specifics, just broad allegations.

Because, let me see if I have this straight - you get better by playing better players - but THOSE players aren’t supposed to play YOU, because you’re lower ranked. If one of those higher ranked players invites you to a game, it can only be because they want to crush and exploit you. Interesting…

And from what it’s worth - in EVERY OTHER CONTEXT IN LIFE where I know Joey - he is unfailingly polite and helpful and hardworking, and interested in improving and building up those communities he’s on.

And if he has preferences in games, like generally preferring manual deployment over automatic? He’s allowed. And so am I. Occasionally I’ve declined games he’s set up, and that’s OK too. An invitation isn’t an obligation. Most of the time, those invites have exposed me to boards and permutations I may not have played before, and here’s a news flash - sometimes that’s stretched me as a player and made me better.

Devante, on your wall you have the quote “He who reigns within himself and rules his passions, desires, and fears, is more than a king.” Looks like you might need to spend a little more time on that.

regardless of everything else, this shows you don't understand how the scoring system works, and therefore throws your whole opinion on this into question.

if a 3000pts player teams up with a 300pts player, he wins more in victory, and loses less in defeat, compared to if he teamed up with another 3000pts player.

it's actually a benefit to his own rank to team up with another lower ranked person.

strikes me as very odd that someone who boasts about his win% and score would be inviting new players and/or low ranked players to games with obscure settings, that no new player would be familiar with, even if they knew the fundamental game of risk.

maybe he's a lovely guy and the sun shines out his arse. i doubt it, but that's besides the point. there is precedent to routinely inviting low ranks to obscures maps/settings.

also, bottom line, this forum is specifically for reporting behaviour one deems suspicious. it means nothing until mods rule on it.

All that matters a lot more if you’re fixated on rank and scores.

Some of us are here to enjoy the gameplay, and I appreciate having a fairly equally balanced team to play against.

But I suppose that utterly devalues my thoughts in your eyes, too. It must be a completely alien values system to you.
