Conquer Club

Personally I've always been one for the strategy, not in any way a lover of war, theres nothing to love about it, it hurts everyone, but the strategy portion is just great.

and there you have the danger , thinking excitement for a strategy game (like risk) has no correlation with exitement for war.

All the mumbojumbos in the army hiarchy also claim they are so peaceful, don't particularly enjoy the sight of bloody corpses and are specialized only in playing wargame/simulations and managing men and resources... but yet all their actions lead to bloody confrontations for some poor bloke down the line of command.

WW1 commanders got very excited in their planning stages shifting flags and puppets on the map and were elated when after a battle they "scored" a few miles of frontline space.
And the expense of thousands of own troops casualties were just an abstract feature.

I am sure that all you "risk game lovers but not war lovers" would opt for a place in the "high command" rather than be a foot soldier so as to argue that your capabilities in strategy thinking would make you "serve" your country best (and leave the bloodshed to less intelligent countrymen).

but there is no shame in that. It's in your genes . Being male, you have that sense of territorial win in you. That's why such games (but also poker, blackjack, etc) are more popular with men than with women.
I find it more shameful to DENY it.

PS I think a professional psychiatrist / Philosofer would be able to explain this better.. but I hope I was able to put a different tone here.

Reading the last post, I feel bad now. I thought I was just getting loads of little numbers to kill each other.

There's not much need for a different tone to the question: strategist or war-lover.

Strategy is not inherently tied to war. And playing Risk, along with it's CC equivalent, doesn't make me want to run out and conquer Canada using the blood of my countrymen (and women).

Telling me its shameful to declare a preference of strategy over war-love based upon my potentially being male along with the actions of WWI commanders is a bit silly.

Not to sound sad, but I like envisioning 'storming through Asia with my magnificent army of the sort" So I guess it's war only because I like being strategic.

Call me crazy, but people who actually like war, as in going into battle and fighting other humans, probably don't play risk to satisfy their craving. It probably wouldn't satisfy their desire for battle, because, um, it's not battle. It's a game. There isn't really anything about risk that is like a real war.

Definetly War. The only reason for this is because of Conan the barbarian, who taught me from an early age that the best thing in life is to slaughter your enemies, burn their villages, and hear the lamenting of their women.

I don't like war in the mind of a soldier, I simply like war in the idea of sending armies to attack other countries.

Actually, you hit on a great point, I would have been here earlier, but I never looked for something new until I couldn't find Acrophobia online, anymore. That forced ne to look around.. and I found Conquer Club.

Now I have CClub and am very happy with it!
