Yes, the crappy one that you get on any mobile device. They've added a few "features", like that annoying message to use landscape mode, and the way they separate the map from the information panels. If they can do that, they could at least banish the new game finder to mobile devices so that computer users would never have to see it.

[sarcasm]Though I just tried out both versions on my phone, and I have to admit that it's just awesome how I can now only see 2 game listings on the screen where before I could see up to 13 at once. 'Cause scrolling is so much fun! Super Job! =D> [/sarcasm]

Doing a search for Game Status Waiting, as well as all the other stuff I want.. choose a game to join .. Game is full (No it wasn't when I searched for it). Hit back ... All my options are wiped out, have to start over.

Start over .. select all the options I want. Finally find a game i want to play. Join game ... "Error, Failed to Join"...

Give Up trying to join a new game :/

Have you tried using Game Requests? They might work better for you, depending on the settings you like to play. The more people use them, the faster games will fill.

There shouldn't be a game finder since we have a callouts forum.

I don't even know what that is, Just sharing that the new system is making it hard to simply join a game in the most basic way. And then when it fails, it wipes out all of your selections so you have to start over. I have to click waiting for players, public, standard, x players, no trench ... all just to do a simple search again.

Try going to Start Games > Game Request Tab, then select the options you want and submit.

I absolutely agree, it is now very cumbersome to scan through the list of available games. It use to be so easy, just scan down the list, one direction. Now I have to scan back and forth in addition to up and down. This is terrible and annoying too.

Also I noticed I could not select a tournament to scan for. I wanted to see where the other games stood and even though it let me select the tourney it did not return that value to the game finder screen.

I feel like smacking my head against the wall. Whyyyyy does the game finder need to be changed again? I didn't see a problem with it.

Infact I compare CC's top guys to those fuckers at work who get a list to do. a 1-10 list. 1 being important. They do the list 3-4-7-6 etc because instead of doing whats needed they do what they feel like doing/want to do/easiest.

It includes most of the Game Finder improvements that were most frequently requested by users: the ability to search by a variety of date ranges rather than just game number sequence, the ability to search for games with specific team-mates (previously, when you were trying to assess the effectiveness of various team-mates, if you would do a search for yourself and someone else, there was no way to filter out games where you were on opposite side instead of on the same side), the ability to specify 2,3, and 4 Polys (previously, there was only the possibility to select Poly game type without being able to limit your search to only the Poly 2 or Poly 3, etc.), and most importantly the ability to search by Random games (previously, Random games would only show up in Game Finder until they began. Once a game began it would only show up under what map came up. So, if you wanted to review your Random map performance, there was no easy way to do it other than to look at all your games and manually pick out the Random ones.)

So what prompted the change from a list format to a matrix format?

I don't know, but I'm assuming it was to make the look more consistent with Central Command.

Well. I never liked it in Central Command either, but it wasn't much of a problem for me because I don't play many games at once. What I would have wanted from Game Finder was a way to sort by the number of open spaces, so I could find games that would start quickly. Now with Game Requests, I rarely use Game Finder anyway, but I don't like to see it ruined like this.

I don't see what's ruined about it, but in any case more improvement can certainly be made. I agree the option to sort by number of spaces would be a good step to make next.

The Game Finder was reworked in order to make it faster and accessible to more search functions- such as start date and others mentioned in the Guaranteed Suggestion. It now uses a Google Angular approach, meaning it will be about 5x faster than the previous Game Finder according to the big guy.

I think Phil summed it up pretty well:

Even better would be to make it like the list interfaces that you see all over the internet (Wikipedia lists, etc.) where every item has it's own column, and you can sort by clicking on the column header.

Did that require presenting the data in a matrix instead of a list?

I don't know if moving your eyes horizontally is more work than moving your fingers and scrolling vertically. I suspect there's not much difference in the amount of effort required; the issue is more about what you're used to, and once you get used to this you'll find it just as easy.

I know that's been the case for me and Central Command. I hated it at first, but now I like it. Just took some getting used to.

Agreed. I notice you brought that up in Beta and nobody noticed. It's too bad. I just found your post there now after searching for it, I didn't see it the first time through. I guess I'm stretched too thin, like not enough butter over too much bread, as Bilbo would say...:)

No it's not a matter of getting use to it. It clearly makes a big difference as to whether you scan something in one column or multiple columns.

Look who's talking. Here you are, wasting time on an Internet forum instead of training for your next football match.

But I really don't like not being able to display results in a list format.

For tournament purposes that is horrible.

Anybody have a workaround?

If I am the creator of a tournament, why can I not see who I reserved a spot for?

Who do I need to ask to get an answer?

Also whats up with game label? I am running a tournament with multiple different games. I would like to pull them up by game label. I don't want all the tournament games at once, just those I want to score for that round. I have tried partial label, full label (typed in and cut and paste), asking for all games, just active games, etc. It returns 0 of 0 each time.

Seriously who do I ask?
Should I start an e-ticket?

I need to keep this tournament on track and I can't do that if I can't find the games.

I'm already used to the new format, so I don't understand the fuzz you're all making about the smallest thing.

However, Silly Knig-it is right about the game labels, they don't work anymore. Something must've gone wrong when the new format was put in place. Needless to say, this problem should be solved quickly. An e-ticket could work, I think the Bug subforum could also work.

I just tried the game labels in one of my tournaments, and they seem to work correctly.

Can you give me some specific examples?

I just tried searching for one of my old tournaments, and can't find any games from it at all. I can use the "Find a Tournament" drop down and select the tourney in question, but it doesn't fill the request. And when I search for the game label "Detroit", I get zero results. Even without selecting a tournament, the game label "Detroit" should return me literally hundreds of games, based on my tournaments alone.

Bollocks.

I'm sure it is an improvement, but point being is it necessary... I tend to think not. It's great to see the site still developing but my statement still stands, I believe they're picking & choosing what to do rather than what’s needed.

But of course it's that age old problem online. No matter what they do it seems they will receive negative comments so it's like going in circles. Let’s just hope there’s more important (based on the general consensus of forum members) updates coming, starting with some solid news on an mobile app in the pipeline.

But again I want to just clarify, I'm not moaning about the Game Finder change, i'm complaining that it's been done over other things that I think most of use agree are more important.
