There is a difference.

I would ask why it bothers you if two people want to spend their free time discussing that question.

Sure. However, in this case, the motivation for the thread is much closer to the second point. I know nietzsche well enough to know that. But of course it's not just nietzsche. What reason is there to compare the attractiveness of two celebrities?

I don't much care whether they spend their free time discussing that question in private. When they post it on a message board and ask the public to rate the two, then it becomes part of the societal discourse and is more than just an offhand conversation between two people.

You seem to infer a lot of my real life persona from my cyber persona. I was really embarrased when in college my friends were giving grades to girls that were passing by using numbers on notebooks, and I did not do it myself. Although I stayed there and had a big laugh.. until someone called the director of the exact sciences school and we were reprimended.

Then your cyber persona is problematic, and you should revise it.

Anyway, to get back on topic the point remains that both of the women in OP are so totally plain that you wouldn't look twice at them if they were the first female to walk into your office in a decade.

You want attractive I give you Lee Hyori:

Given that you're the moron who thinks AoG's cat is cuter than mine, I'm going to take that to be an upside down 9.

AoG's cat is rather ugly, my sister used to have a cat very similar to AoG's and he was the smelliest cat. In fact he died beucase once she was giving him a bath and he fought her and ran away and returned like 5 days later only to die, apparently he licked all the shampoo off.

But your cat's ears really bother me. So no matter how ugly, any cat with normal ears will be cuter than yours.

(I really hope Mets doesn't get offended because I'm rating cats' cuteness)

I've invited a few girls in the site to give their opinion.

Let's see what real women (not Mrs. WDK) think about it.

Aog s cat s ears indeed look like batman or a freaking fox. Your cat s ears look like they were chopped off.

They are folded over in a style which everyone around the world knows is 'super cute'.

Scottish Fold

Scottish Fold cats are best known for their almost comically cute faces and their ‘floppy’ ears.

Another ‘floppy’ characteristic of the Scottish Fold is its tendency to lounge about in amusingly comfortable looking poses and stances.

As the old saying goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". It all comes down to personal preferences. Now if you are a movie producer, or are peddling anything from beauty products to cars, there is a reason to know what the masses tend to prefer. Attractive people, male or female, sell products. That's just the way it is. Do I like it? No, but I'm not even going to delve into that discussion. As for the two lovely ladies in this poll, I think both are attractive. My personal preference is for dark haired people (probably because my father was dark haired).

well I think the reason that made nietzsche bring both of you girls in this topic, was rather to answer the question "do you girls feel offended if people judge if actress A or actress B is more attractive".
You made a few good points though. Nevertheless, while attractivity sells, do you think comparing two faces (+all we've gathered from them in movies) is an objectification?

Nietzsche you do realize I was trolling. Lol. Geez.

He sent me a PM asking what is wrong with me. Love ya, but you're too easy. Hehe

I'm a designer. Therefore I know better that taste is subjective and therefore so is beauty :P It is a rare thing to find a person that is truly beautiful in every way. I've never judged beauty on looks alone. I know some very pretty women who are really ugly in every other way.

For instance... I am more attracted to guys with dark hair, doesn't mean that I haven't dated a blond haired guy or two who were also very attractive.

I could give a straight answer to it... But you can guess from my reply. :P

<insert mac's "I was just reading about this today" comment>

Seriously, though, there was an article in the South China Morning Post just this morning about objectification of women in HK and China.

"Hong Kong feminist groups hit back at objectification of women in city"

http://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/article/1 ... -campaigns

Relevant pictures from the article (yes, I read the SCMP just for the pictures):

Image

- Beijing Hooters. 5 are opening in Hong Kong soon-ish.

An ad for a new burger joint opening in Central:

Image

Much of the controversy centred on the provocatively named Double D Burger in Central. Although the owners claim the moniker was shorthand for their "dirty and decadent" menu, its reference is obvious: the size of a woman's bra cup. Their first ad campaign reinforces this idea, using a towering billboard that featured five women clad only in lingerie eating cheeseburgers, with the suggestive tagline: "In your mouth soon."

Outrage swelled when the restaurant's hiring guidelines - which included a requirement that staff "understand the dirtiness of our burgers" - became public.

Double D subsequently removed the offending adverts and ensuing comments from its Facebook page, but quickly riposted with a new campaign featuring an image of a bare-chested man holding a pixelated cheeseburger above a note: "Apparently we've been too saucy so we're blocking out the naughty bits."

Image

Image

Despite the complaints, there's no denying a lot of sexually suggestive advertising works.

"All these positive and negative reactions started to create a stir in Hong Kong, and we ended up being covered in many respected publications," says Magnetic. "In the end, this really made people notice us, so I guess that's positive for us."

This response just reminds Thompson how far Hong Kong has to go.

"We're supposed to be an international, first world commercial centre and have a very sophisticated audience. But in some aspects Hong Kong is behind the curve ... we're very backward here in understanding how and where negative stereotypes are formed, calling out sexist behaviour which denigrates women, and encouraging victims of harassment to speak up about their experiences."

(Sorry, Nietzsche! I think Drew and Michelle are both really cute, man.)

There's a restaurant in the south somewhere (maybe Chengdu or Chongqing) that is staffed by foreign male models. They either serve as waiters or just stand around posing for photos like A&F models, or both. I forget.

When Abercrombie & Fitch opened here a few years ago, they had a bunch of male models riding around on buses and standing outside the shop.

Who really cares if they are being objectified... They are actresses.. If you have two here that can act, you are going to pick the one that looks the part... Based on looks...

What's wrong with being objectified anyways? I pass people everyday that I'd like to be my coin operated toy, or ugh, put a bag on your head. . Males get objectified, females get objectified, who cares. I know that the outward appearance is only about 10% of what a person is about, but I still have my opinion about that, everyone does.

Ask about physical preferences all you want.

I don't like either one of their faces, which are weird similar. They're pretty, but not hot.
I voted Drew because I like blonde and bigger tits.
Titties win.

Are the terms male model and gay synonymous?
