The people complaining... they are so adorable.

Actually, to the person who asked sarcastically how many people are colourblind, the answer is a lot actually. Some people are partial colourblind and don't even know it because they have no experiences to compare it to. It happened to a friend of mine who is an artist, he was in his 20s when he found out that he was red colourblind because he created a piece with weird colours and people were asking about it. It affects 1 in every 10 or so males with brown eyes. They're not the only people, but they are most susceptible to it.

If you have 25,000 people and anything up to 1,000 of those may be colourblind in some way, then you have to cater for them as well.

IIRC gray was deemed too dark for some maps, so now green is too dark for some maps. Now it looks black--AND THERE IS NO BLACK!* WHAT WILL WE DO?!?!

Although... I'm sure they changed it because of the new colours to help distinguish them for someone with colour blindness or partial colour blindness. Just my guess.

One person in the thread using their brain anyway :)

@ everyone else; obviously it was changed to facilitate the incorporation of 4 new colours in light of 12-player games. I doubt they'll ever manage this in a way that makes everyone happy, but hell, since when has everyone ever been happy anyway.
I shall now hold my tongue and let the whining continue.

That's a good explanation, but it seems they haven't attained the desired outcome (i.e. least possible confusion). But at least roughly 500 of 16000 users are happy?

That was not the thought process. ;)

Good.

That wasn't the problem. Slate clashed with lots of potential colours, and wouldn't be easily visible with some of the new colours either. It also was easily confused with the old green. By changing both slate and green there isn't really any confusion now, just people being pathetic.

simple, make button for color blind adjustment, and every color blind can press this button, or make button for normal adjustment, so that we can make manual colors.

This sounds coherent. What about one set for colour blind people and another set for non-colour blind people? That would make everybody happy

Not really a viable option, since many of the colours ruled out during the process were too similar for those of us who aren't colour blind, nevermind those who are.

You guys are only complaining because it's new. :P. If the colours were like this all along, there'd be no complaints at all. Nostalgia isn't an excuse. :P I have no issues with this and I'm not colourblind. Okay, aesthetically, the green mightn't be as nice a colour, but it's a small thing.

I honestly have more issues distinguishing region bonuses on a map that are too similar in colour than I ever had with the player colours. :P This is really petty, guys.

This was discussed. So was what qwert is asking for (manually being able to select your own colors). It's not possible at this time.

Everyone had a chance to comment on new colors in open callout in the announcement to participate. If you didn't want to complain about the colors while they were under consideration, it sounds like your complaining just to complain. At least if you participated ur complaints would have been productive.

Me personally, I do like the old green better.

I have just gotten over the fact that IT'S JUST A COLOR. Lol grow up people... We have 3 pages of people complaining BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE A COLOR.

Besides... We changed the color green darker so we could make 12 player games... So which would you rather have?

Am I the only color-blind player who finds the new Green hard to distinguish?
I do use color codes and BOB, but even with that turned on it's quite hard to distinguish at a glance between Red and Green (the real "trouble" colors for the most common type of color-blindness).

(Meaning: I'm not bitching simply because I "don't like it" and there are others on this thread who are having trouble with it as well.)

Personally, I won't be playing too many 12-player games. I don't mean to diminish the real work that went into making it possible, but it seems that quite a few more 4 - 8 player games are going to be played in the future and those colors could have been kept the same. Perhaps all new colors could have been picked for the new players slots?

Maybe I missed this, but it seems this could have been run by the people it purported to help before it was implemented...

We asked for Open Callouts for anyone that wanted to help. It's not feasible to ask every single user what they want, because there would be just too much info to go to. And we did have a mix of regular users and mods who worked on this. And yes, we did have colorblind users helping us with the process.

I also believe you don't realize how tough it actually was to pick 4 new colors that were distinguishable enough to go with. Simply plopping them in a post wasn't enough, as it would look good on here, but when we transferred it to the map, it instantly because hard to tell what was what.

i'm also a red/green color blind person, and pretty much now the red and green look the same.

i'm sure i'll get over it with time, but now it's pretty damn aggravating. if the green could be toned down just a smidgen it would do wonders. i use the color codes but this is pretty bad right now.

also the two yellows are a bit screwed up. so are the U and the B, and the O and the V. maybe the outlines could be two-toned or something. i don't know.

to be fair, i had trouble with the original colors, and with more colors added then undoubtedly that's more trouble. i'm sure after a while i will have trained my eyes how to detect the differences but right now i'm flustered with this red green thing. it's a real pain in my ass.

i steer away from maps with difficult color arrangements, i'm sure i'll steer clear of this whole 12 player debacle too.

Ok I have excellent color vision. It's been tested during medicals several times.

Just looked in on a 12 player game on classic map. Green Slate and V look pretty similar.

I doubt it would harm the game play I already nearly always use the codes. Great update in my opinion.
