Really?

This website shows it to be the same stuff as we drink, and most of that is natural lactose (typically 5g/100ml).

One of my friends says his whey protein formula is 60g of protein per shake. That sounds awfully high., but it also sounds awfully cheap as I can get a jug for under 20$, probably 15$ even.

It's also been recommended to mix my supplements with milk instead of water because they want the fat that's in it, as well as still drink a lot of water.

I prefer milk

Swimming won't really bulk you up. lol

Creatine floods your muscles with water. But guess what the plus of having your muscles flooded with fluid is? Take a guess ya'll!

What do you mean jug? I am not familar with the term.

Also whey with water tastes like arse. Milk is the only wat to drink it (plus bonus protein and good fats!).

As I say whey protein is good, but just watch what you are actually paying for, a lot of the cheaper ones will just be high carb/sugar mixes (which are sometimes better for bulking as they up your calorie count). Best to work out how much you are paying per gram of protein.

A jug of powder mix and you use a scoop or two of everyday. It's probably a 60 day supply or something. My creatine was 15$ and I saw a lot of other stuff between 15-20 but I am just exploring for now. I will say that just by the fact I am doing something externally from the physical act of lifting weights itself gives me more motivation and keeps me on track more, even if the results turn out to be minimal from the actual product itself.

Ah right, yeah we call it a tub.

For whey protein in NZ you pay about 70-80 USD for 5lbs. For mass gainers (less protein, more carbs) you pay slightly less but prices are hugely variable. Thats about 24-26 USD/lb of protein. Comparatively milk is about 15-16 USD/lb of protein.

Scotty's work out routine.

6.30-8.30. Watch Watchmen again under misguided impression that he's the one who watches the watchmen.
8.30- 9.00. Breakfast. Trickle down syrup on pancakes. Sadly the bottle is from the Reagan era, so it's still just pancakes.
9.00- 10.00 Protein Purchasing Power Hour!
10.00-12.00 Nap
12.00- 1.00. Lunch. Whatever mom made.
1.00-2.00 Screaming naked in front of a mirror while blasting WWE wrestler entrance music at a volume level pre-negotiated with mother.
2.00-3.00 Attend Prager University.
3.00-3.15 Do like, a thousand reps with like the big weights.
3.15-4.00 Cool down and investigate new smilsies
4.00-6,00 Nap
6.00- 6.01 Look at the girl who jogs past the window.
6.01- 6.02 *CENSORED"
6.02- 6.30 Go for a circular run around area ankle tag allows.
6.30-7.30 YOU KNOW THIS IS WHEN I WATCH GLENN, MOM.
7.30- 8.30 1000 "push ats"
8.30- 8.32 Protein
8.33> Back to Bed to Build a Better Body tomorrow.

You float easier?

Better transportation of nutrients to your muscle fibers. Thus the importance of taking it but in minimal dosage.

which translates to faster healing (cause building muscle is really just building usable scar tissue in essence), but of course it also requires proper hydration (yes I say that a lot, it's the one thing they harp on more than anything else in the military)

now because I've got all these fitness buffs reading this thread, can I ask of you what's the best way to get into better overall shape the fastest? keep in mind, I've got limited access to supplements and facilities (and milk... no milk out here). we've got a decent gym, but no pool, otherwise I'd be hitting that (I used to love swimming)

Yeah, swimming's probably the best way. Cross-training probably, unless you're looking for a specific type of fitness (muscle, cardio, etc.).

Work hard. Cause yourself pain.

General fitness will not be achieved by heavy weights; but by hard cardio and circuit/light weights training (people call it different things, but pretty much cross training, high intensity, multiple exercise stuff, keeping heart rate high most of the time).

Depends on what your goal is. "Better overall shape" could mean you look better naked, or it could mean you dont die of heart disease tomorrow, or it could mean you can run a marathon or it could mean a million other different things... Whats your goal? Whats your current, er, state?

But what if I just CAN'T look better naked? I know, it's a terrible cross to bear.

Lootifer wrote:or it could mean you can run a marathon

About every year or so, I consider trying to get ready to run a marathon. Fortunately, I come to my senses before getting too far into it.

I personally don't care what I look like naked (though my wife disagrees for some odd reason), and I don't want to run a marathon... I do however have certain standards I have to keep up namely the Air Force has me do a 1.5 mile run, a minute of timed pushups, a minute of timed situps, and a waist measurement (which I don't worry about because taking care of the others takes care of the waist)
right now I'm in... ok shape. I'm 5'8" and according to the scale at the gym here I'm 180 lbs. I've been slacking off for the last few months, and need to get back up to snuff to do the aforementioned exercises in reasonable fashion. long term, yeah... I've got some serious family history of cancer, so trying to avoid things that lead to that (thus I don't use any kind of tobacco, etc)
