Sorry for bugging you Koontz, but I'm in the bonus phase, so rules say "continental bonuses" .....

That's like Classic map? Australia can't have one region in Africa? That is not continental, right?

Continental is misleading as a name. But what you need to do is set up the bonuses like classic map. Hold certain number of regions for a bonus. No more, no less. This can be played with, look at nattys Eurasia map and see how he has some regions belonging to two different bonuses (Hungary, Central India). And not all regions need to belong to a bonus, World 2.1 has this (Chad). But both of these maps have super bonuses as well. That means if you hold a collection of bonuses, you get one that is bigger.

Bonuses can be together or separated with continental.

So yes, you can do this. As long as the map clearly states what regions belong to what bonus, you are good to go.

An example for you would be this -
Hold 5 blue wizards for a bonus of +4.
Wizards 1,2,3,4 are together, but wizard 5 is lost in the woods and surrounded by the red wizards. So W5 region does not touch any of the other blue wizards.

Let your imagination run wild.

Can I recruit some help from my clan to draw things for the map, or is it supposed to be completely secret until submitted?

Secret, I am sure your clan will understand.

Remember, two players can be named for a map so if you wanted to have someone help out, that will be fine.

I would like to draw your attention to the rules though, if you solicit votes, we will kick you out of the comp. By asking clan mates (starting a thread or sending a mass PM) to draw for you, this could be construed as soliciting.

Small or large. Does not matter.
jonofperu wrote:This is a draft, right? As good as possible of course since we're trying to get votes... :-)

The better you get it, the better your chances are. But do not worry, the maps will get time in the foundry to work on them. Not much but some. jono, having seen your work on two maps already, I am not worried about your drafts.

Here is natty dreads winning image from north America comp. So this is the type of standard you should aim for. If you miss it, do not worry. We have a month to work on this. ;)

None have the names on them. The only names on the maps should be Dako and Rj Beals who won contests. If any other name is on the map, it is down to the map makers choice. I see my name is on one of the maps but that was down to the map makers wish, not mine.

I've tried several times, but the images for maps 1 and 4 only come up as broken links for me. Not sure what's different about those two--are they hosted somewhere else or something?

That can happen. As soon as the winner is declared (when it goes live, not at the end of the weeks voting) the others can go into the foundry as per normal. I expect to see at least 3 of these maps in the foundry over the course of this year.

omg, I love the second one
and the 5th one seems intruiging somehow. Not sure how that map would be played out, but it makes me curious.

I voted two and five. I don't know if people love one or if they're just voting for the first map they see.

I do not think that is what is going on. 5 Is a mess graphics wise if you ask me. 1 and 3 look pretty to me. 2 and 4 could have some appeal to others. Voting looks on task.

4 has a lot of potential. Im pretty sure it can turn into a beauty.
I just cant figure out how to play it..maybe that is turning people back

About n1 , whos is about to win, i have a request...come on Koontz, stop making borders "classic cities : Jakarta" style. They are ugly and you can do better than that. Map looks to have interesting gameplay as allways in your maps. Please hire a graphic guy to work along with you(only for this map :D
