I try not to play in my own tournaments. There are exceptions (especially the new "Dukasaur Plays" series, obviously) but for the most part I want to be seen as an objective arbiter and not to be in the games. Especially multiplayer standard games, where diplomacy might take place and the tournament organiser could be seen as abusing his privilege to make pronouncements that might be seen as semi-official. In this "Best of" series I have jumped into a game occasionally (when a player quit without warning) but I make it clear that it's just to get the game underway and I don't make myself eligible to continue in the tournament.
