Judging from TV and what I see on here, I think it does. There seems to be an awful lot of Americans spewing rhetoric with gun in hand. It doesn't matter what the rhetoric is, although racist groups and christian sects seem to be the most common.
Does anyone else get this impression?
I absolutely do.
It gets you asking yourself what it means to be an American or what Patriotism really is.
Patriotism is all about who can wave more flags and spew out more hate than the other guy.

See the guy below. He's more patriotic than most, as he's wearing an American Flag and has a humongous American Flag behind him! God bless this patriot!

To be a true patriot sort of like Phatscotty, you got to spew out huge amounts of hot air. Hate, fear, GOD! and anything else that might lead to the apocalypse.

Voter ID was even created as a way to stop blacks from voting.
Basically your laws would stop the less-than-40 illegal votes spread out over a period of years, while eliminating millions of legal minority votes.
63% of blacks support voter ID. Why do you say it will prevent blacks from voting?
Just because voter fraud is almost impossible to prove does not mean it doesn't exist. How many examples are there of people buying a bag of weed? Does that mean it never happens?
None of those excuses (true or false) change the fact that voter ID is a common sense issue, and American's are united on this more than anything else.

Ha-ha-ha-ha, leave it to Scottie to compare voting to marijuana. I demand a drug test of Scottie! There's no way he's NOT under the influence when he posts.

I didn't say it was necessarily Republicans VS Democrats that is the root cause, but politics is the root cause and I stand by my reply.
Phatscotty wrote:Why do you say it will prevent blacks from voting?
Every time someone mentions Voter I.D. the Democrats start protesting it. Surely you already have heard the answer to your own question. If Voter I.D. was a good idea, then both sides would embrace it. But it's not a good idea, it's a poll tax.

So you admit that you want to create more laws and layers of bureaucracy to prevent a crime that you don't even have any evidence of?

TV probably isn't your best source of information about the state of your society. TV has a fairly well-proven track record of focusing on a small amount of sensational cases rather than giving audiences the bigger, but less sensational, picture. how many psychos have you, your family and friends personally encountered in your day-to-day lives?
the nutjobs that you do have in the US (i would imagine you don't have that many more than other developed nations) are probably motivated by the same things as the nutjobs in other developed countries. they're politically, socially and/or economically disenfranchised and they're not sure how to deal with this, so they either find someone to blame (e.g. immigrants or 'degenerates') or they take the pussy's way out and go down in the biggest ball of flames they can (e.g. the batman guy).

If you count the discarded votes from each election, then Gore & Kerry both beat Bush handily.

so anyway, what makes a person "paranoid"?
my guess is that anyone who doesn't trust their government with their life is considered "paranoid" by the average parasite

That would be everyone, or the vast majority. Therefore, if the vast majority are paranoids, the few that would trust the government with their life are the only sane people. Know any?
