Even if we started August 15, some will get byes / not participate in play in so that "buys" extra time. Also even if you did play, first round one team and 2 weeks later would be the other. So you'd need enough players to field a first round team and can meet the minimums 2 weeks later which would be nearly sept 1 (or later if u got a bye)

Will the winners of each war get medals, or is that outlawed since this is 1v1?

The first edition I don't believe any medals were handed out. I'll discuss a Bruce to see if anything can be issued here. Assume a "no" for now.

hi Ice
do you know if, by the way things look right now, FOED would get a first round bye?

Yeah sorry, I spoke to soon. Winners will likely get a medal. I'm still clarifying if that's the only medal option(s) available. But it sounds like winners will get one.
Uckuki - there's no way I could tell at this point. It all depends on how many clans sign up and how people seed their competitors. Totally out of my control currently.

The worst that could happen if you don't get a bye, is that you wouldn't be able to play, no worse than you are right now amiright?
May as well sign-up, and if worst comes to worst and you can't field a line-up, you'd just end up in essence giving another clan a bye?

I'd rather not sign us up then come short on the requisite number of players.
though we are very close, just need another one or two.

Several have asked questions about freemium involvement. This is intended to be a fast(er) paced event. I'm not opposed to freemiums participating, but they can't slow down the event.
I think a good rule to go by is one "series" per freemium, per round. But they need to play enough keeps / keep slots open enough that it doesn't hold up the round.
If it begins to be a problem for any clan / individual the clan / individual maybe asked to limit that players involvement or open more slots etc.

Questions:
1. With a series comprising 5 games how do you accommodate freemiums (restricted to 4) and are there rules in place (e.g. deadlines) for creation of the balance of games (to total 5). From what I've witnessed on CC there's often a problem, e.g. "Oh sorry, but I'm in another tourney as well and had to join those games or I'd forfeit" and next thing you know the tourney falls a month behind while we all wait for freemiums to create their outstanding games. If there's no penalty there is no incentive to get the games created.
2. Team A creates 20 x 5 in Week 1 and Team B creates 20 x 5 in Week 3. Is it really necessary to create the extra admin (i.e. a calendar event that we all have to note) of creating just one game (the Classic tiebreaker) in Week 2? May as well just include it in Week 1 games really and then give clan admins a week's break in between, otherwise the tourney requires constant monitoring & action every single week which is bound to cause probs when contacts are on leave or whatever. Just a thought, sorry.

1) I have a freemium note / spoiler on the first post. Essentially I think they can be used "in moderation". My suggestion is 1 game series per round, per freemium as long as they have enough slots and are committed to keeping a fast pace. If it becomes an issue the clan / player will be approached and if it doesn't improve that player wont be allowed to be used. Penalities would follow the standard escalating scale on page 1 if needed / the player can't complete his games cuz other invites etc.
2) If the two teams want to agree to include it in week 1 or 3 i really dont mind at all. As with any clan war if the two sides agree to some altered version of the settings I'm ok with it. This is just the "standard" for anyone who doesn't want to come up with the war term themselves. This was part of the original tournament, if there's enough support we can just include it in Week 1, for example.
Thanks for signing up, I'll add you to the list.

1. Freemiums noted. Maybe make the rule clearer "A freemium may only join one series per round" (as opposed to "I think a good rule is....." coz that doesn't appear to be binding). Please be aware that if a freemium joins 4 away games or creates 4 home games in the final batch (e.g. in Week 3) that there will inevitably be a delay until he can join/create Game #5. You could end up with a scenario where you are penalising a premium player's team for late joining yet absolving a freemium player for late joining. Just thought I'd point that out as it may cause friction. Simple solution is to either exclude freemiums or make each series best-of-3 but I'm not sure if you want to consider either option. Cheers anyway.
2. Noted, thanks. We'll probably discuss it with the opposing team at the same time we negotiate FoW agreement, etc.

1) Yes, I could make a hard and fast rule. Ultimately, I'm trying to be flexible and inclusive. its up to the clans to use their discretion when planning a freemium. If he has 4 slots open, thats not so bad...if he's got 1 they better be sure he can open up more / RT the hell outta those games etc. Like I said, I'm leaving it in the clans courts to use their judgement, but the "rule" part of it is....if it holds things up significantly, there will be penalties applied. If the clan wants a freemium they either need to ensure he understands he's under special circumstances to complete the series, or not take the risk and not utilize the member.
I would like to leave it up to the clans to decide what's best for them. I like acting like we are all largely intelligent, reasonable people and only punish those who prove me wrong.
Clearly, more than one game series per player per round is to much and should be avoided.
2) That's what its there for. Cheers

Updated to this point. My current thoughts on timing:
Sign Ups End: July 29
PM to Leaders for Seeding votes: July 29-August 5th
Score Tabulated/ Bracket created: Aug 6-10th
Prediction Entries Accepted: Aug 10-31st
Clan Planning time given: Aug 10-31st (3 Weeks should be plenty of time to plan vs first opponent)
Start Date: Sept 1
First Games Sent: Mon Sept 3rd
Since Sept 1 seems to be the most popular option I gave 3 weeks planning time. Plenty of notice to all involved and planning for admin and thread creation etc.

With the current 12-18 slot, do you think you could work out a provisional timetable similar to what they have for CC3, because I'm concerned whether this could result in finals being held around Christmas?
