I like it. A few questions.
Who in a clan would nominate/award/generally manage the medals? Clan leadership is varied, for instance with DB we sort of just have an 'advisory council' but all clan business is open for discussion. Others have a more 'single-leader' approach. So essentially my question is, who would have the privileges to award this 'once-a-year' medal?
Would there be any site requirements in order for the medal to be given, or will it be issued on the clan's [the above entity in question's] say-so? For instance, is a clan required to hold a vote of peers, and if so how long must the poll run, how must the nominations proceed, etc?

Love it!! Perhaps it could be a GA Medal. But I like the idea for sure. It gives clan members a reason to get more involved.

Sounds good. I agree with the idea. A lot of our clan members put a lot of time in this clan besides me and Great-Ollie. It would be great to have them recognized outside of our clan. I'm most other leaders feel the same way.

i personaly agree with jefjef an award from your peers for recognition is one people would love to have and would treasure about all else because you have to work for it and earn the title.
great suggestion

there's no way that this could be done only by the leaders. It would have to be done by the entire clan. Nominations for a week, voting for 2 weeks. The CDs would issue the medal, once the clan leader(s) sent a PM saying who it should be given to.

One of the better clan suggestions in recent times. However, maybe in addition to this (or some how combine these ideas) is to give a medal to the person with the most wins in a year in clan wars. Can't do percentages because then you'd have people who go 1 for 1 in clan war games getting this medal. Or even extend this to all clan members of the clan who wins the most wars in a year.
But +10000000 for JJ's idea.
If a clan wanted to award someone due to their total war win contribution this would be a great way to do it.

Just my rough vision would be for the entire clan to vote/decide. Some clans may want it to be a leader decision - (but I'd prefer all KOA members to have an equal vote). Each clan should be able to decide how they choose to award it though.
I would say there should be requirements met before CC issued the award. Like maybe a PM or ticket from all clan leaders. Minimum time in clan (like a year) for the individual to receive the award. A very specific time frame to request award issuance. Like the month of January as an example.

Sounds a good idea, I am always in admiration of the time and effort that some people put into making the rest of us have more fun; this equally applies to clans/tournaments/general. Therefore some level of recognition within the clan structure sounds the least some of these people deserve.
In short this idea gets my vote.

i like this idea. but would also ask if jef could add a genaral achevement medal for clan members who sucsessfully run maybe 3 challenges because there is more work in doing this than running a tourney. say maybe after 3 complete challenges.

This I think would be it's own worthy suggestion. It looks like with this sugg we will probably be asking for it's very own shiny medal.

I like the idea, though i have a few of my own questions...
Is this for all clans social and Competitive? you dont actually say one way or the other.. Also is there a minimum a clan most do to give out this medal? a clan can be competitive and sit out all the year or most of it

Competitive are clans.
Social are usergroups.
I'll insert "competitive" though for ya.
A clan can only remain a clan, per CC guidelines, as long as they have a war within a certain time frame and have an active forum.

I would fully support this, great idea JJ. It could be done with a vote of clan members, or just awarded to a member by the clan leaders, but great idea.

You have my support. A unique medal would make a nice addition and stand out. Were you thinking of having it be a one time deal for each clan, or maybe some sort of time period between medal give-outs (say 6 or 12 months)?

One a year per clan.

This sets an interesting precedent -- normal users are generally not allowed to determine who is eligible to earn a site medal. Accepting this suggestion would mean Team CC no longer has full control over who receives these recognitions. I think this part of it needs to be addressed before this can be submitted.

What is there specifically to address mets? Many of us have thus far showed support to be able to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of those that make our clan experience a very enjoyable and successful part of our CC experience.
I can't imagine why CC would have an issue with that.

The issue is not with the content of the suggestion but the framework in which it must occur. Submitting this suggestion is tantamount to saying that it is OK for people who have no real ties to leadership or volunteering on the site to control how the site apportions its official recognitions. This is problematic because the medal system was never intended to be controlled by (or be used for) a specific group of people. In a general sense, it has only ever been used to award medals that all players in the CC community were eligible for, if they chose to get involved at the time (special achievement medals notwithstanding, but these are still given out by Team CC only).
So I'm not currently convinced that players should receive site recognition for helping out a specific, exclusive community on the site, and I'm currently opposed to giving normal users (not on Team CC) discretion over who gets official site recognition. These definitely need to be addressed.

So it's power thing? That's why you oppose it? Clans and it's leaders do not contribute to CC? We do not volunteer our time to make this an enjoyable community? MANY of us in the clan world, leaders and members alike, contribute greatly to CC's welfare and profit. I find that view rather offensive as I'm sure others will too.
BTW: This is not a site recognition. It is a clan recognition for it's members. Our friends. CC's customers.
You've had your say and quite frankly I believe you feel this way due to our personal differences.
So how about TheForgivenOne weighs in on this on behalf of the suggs group.

what if clan leaders submitted candidates to the Clan Director with their reasons why the candidate should be considered.
and i think the medal should be a picture of a green oak.
