DWI? Driving While Intoxicated...

In Australia it's called DUI - Driving Under the Influence

Semantics I guess..

So Jay, when did you get busted having too much to drink?

DUI is anything under .08 BAC, DWI is anything over. Most people just call them both DUI. (In the US)

I never knew the difference, I thought DUI referenced people driving high or on pain killers or whatever.

Wikipedia seems to think they are synonyms, but I have family who work in law enforcement, and, if I remember correctly, those are the definitions they gave for DUI and DWI (In relation to alcohol). The term could, and probably does, refer to other drugs, prescription or otherwise.

OMG the fact that I have to explain this is unbelievable....... I was talking about YOU. I don't have ANY DWI's.

In the US DWI = driving while intoxicated and DUI= driving under the influence. The DWI being the more serious offense. Yes, semantics.......

speaking of gas prices, the truck DIED this morning in the middle of the road about 200 feet after I put 20 in the tank... if it doesn't get fixed, I'd better be able to get my gas back. that's expensive stuff!

OMG LOL@AOL.COM LOL OMG -

I don't have any DUIs or DWIs either - Your previous comment didn't make much sense under this light, so I assumed you were talking about yourself. Were you assuming because I choose to ride a bike that I must have had a drink driving offence? Or should we put it in the failed joke pile where the subtlety of internet sarcasm was lost through post-translation?

What's to love about it? My province is not a big oil producer, but we still have more than enough to supply ourselves. However we pay a 1.00 + more for a gallon of gas.

Canadian Club, and Crown Royal are produced 15 miles from my farm. I can drive to North Dakota, and buy it at $12.00 cheaper a bottle.

The honey I produce myself costs me .25 cents a pound more than what huge packers like Billy Bee are paying (including shipping) to have sent to their plant from overseas.

It's the backbone of our consume disposables based economy, and it will be the death of the human race.

I hate humans.

I dont know I just remember some president repeating over and over again "Globalism, the bridge to the 21st century" and all his followers were like "YEAH! And he can play the Saxophone too!"

Here's a bit of UK perspective for you. I passed my driving test 9 months ago and a litre of regular petrol (unleaded) was averaging between £1.01-£1.02 around here, and had been for a few years! The lowest I can find it now is £1.32!?!? That's an increase of £0.30 in 9 months.

Here's an example. My friend has a car which has a capacity for 100 litres of fuel.

100 x £1.02 = £102.00 for a full tank
100 x £1.30 = £130.00 for a full tank

Let's say he uses 40 full tanks a year, and let's assume that the price of petrol remains at £1.30.

£102.00 x 40 = £4,080 a year
£130.00 x 40 = £5,200 a year

Increase of price in petrol is costing £1,120 extra each year.

No... we just only pay a portion of the real cost.

There is no way we will EVER come close to paying for the damage done to the Gulf, even if money could fix it. Nor are we paying for the damage to the health of children who are born/grow up near petroleum processing centers, etc, etc, etc.

So, no. Our price is only an illusion.

 You can't pay those "real costs" because they are impossible to quantify. But yes, we do pay WAY too much on gas because the prices are based on speculation and artificially low supplies from OPEC, not on actual gas in the system. Plus the fact that we have a few dozen different blends that must be used around the country. If the entire country used 1 blend, the costs would be much lower.

If our dollar got 50% stronger overnight, oil would be half the price tomorow. there are legitimate other reasons as NS points out, but so long as the dollar goes lower, gas is going higher

Right. That's why gas prices are rising almost everywhere in the world lately. Everyone's currency is tanking at the same time.
