That's the tough thing about copyrighted materials. Maybe look into creative ways of tweaking it, so it bares no resemblance to warcraft 3. But if you can't do that, it just might have to fall into the Foundry Furnace.

Wow, talk about a delayed responce, if you changed the names Im pretty sure the people who like Warcraft wont want to play.

Don't abandon this project. The map looks good and is an interesting idea. Too bad Blizzard didn't give you the go ahead. But perhaps you can change the names a bit like:

Lordaeron = Lorderan

Would that be acceptable? I don't think we would be infringing any laws that way.

I dont know, I'll wait for Andy to decide before I start working on it again.

if no one is making direct profit buy buying or otherwise gaining access to the content then it is perfectly legal, i am working on a WoW map and you should continue this one, may the better map win.

its illegal. for one cc's premium access would make it like charging for use of the WoW map which would be making money off Blizzard which is illegal. 2nd you aren't allowed to alter their maps i think it said so.... This problem has been run into before with ideas like a star wars map, and discouraged me from starting a wow map a long time ago

you are not making a direct profit from that, you are making a profit from the features it unlocks.

They had a clause allowing duplication to be made, no one has found that clause for the blizzard maps because i don't think they exist. The lord of the rings map comes from the book which is like 50 years old. They had to make sure they weren't breaking copywright laws also. I'm pretty sure that it would infringe copywrite laws in making this map

If you dont have permission from owner of these map, then you can not work in these map, i dont understand why people first put map, then ask for permission for hes owners.

i think someone should definetly make a map that is similar to that of warcraft but not the same like add in a few extra territories change the name hell add in some island and cut out malestrome

Thats what I was thinking of doing, but I'm not sure if that would be allowed?

yea why not just change the name to conquer craft or something interesting
