it's vierzehn, not veirzehn, a tip to remember is that ie makes an eee sound while ei makes an aye sound

German GCSE, eh? I got a D in that back in the day (1998). Most of my coursework was done via babelfish :twisted:

Heute, habe ich Deutsh Stunde. Es war sehr langweilig, weil der Junge war doof. Mein Lehren ist super, aber sie hat Hausaufgaben gegeben.

Spitze, ich wuesste nicht dass es andere Deutsch studenten gibt. Ich habe Deutsch nach fumf jahren gelernt (bis AP, ich weiss nicht was die selbe waere in England). Ein Deutsch Forum waere toll.

hey, im doing my GCSE german (and french) this june and its a scary thought! i seriously dont recommend taking two languages, its just a little too much! Viel Glück!

Was ist ein "GSCE"? Ich bin ein Amerikaner und weiss nicht was das meint. Ist es wie unsere AP, wo es ist wie ein Universitaet Klasse die in ein gymnasium ist?

GCSE is the exam you take when your in Y11 or 5th Year or 16. V.important cos you can leave school with them and they affect the rest of your life.

yeah, GCSE's are the compulsory exams you have to take at 16, then you have an option to go on to 6th form, college, etc and do A-levels or equivalent for two years, then you can go to university at 18 (or take a gap year).

thanks, i'm pretty ignorant about the UK education system, here the closest thing to that are SATs and SAT IIs (subject tests). Even AP tests don't matter all that much since not every school offers AP courses anyway. Colleges just care what grade you get in the class and what level of the class you're taking.

Yes, keine means "none", but kleine means "small" not a little bit. Ein bischen means "a little bit"

So you were saying you speak "small German" not "a little German".

Ich erlerne auf meinen Selbst, aber ich bin zur Abenschule auch gegangen.
Wenn ich nicht sicher bin, benutze ich Babelfish.

I have a pronunciation question:
Ich auch. My night school teacher was from Austria and I remember learning the "ch" sound as a hard sound that I can't think of a comparison in English for. But, on some tapes I've listened to it comes out "Ish aush". Any thoughts? Is this just a regional thing?

I'm no expert here, but different regions have their own accents and dialects. Austria and Bavaria being very different from the others.
