Greatest bands of all time? Guns and posers, and aeroshit? What is wrong with you, man?

I'm starting to think that your sole purpose in life is to say things that I disagree with/that are wrong.

Are you a troll?

You follow me around, unsuccessfully trying to attack things I post. You're projecting your own actions onto me.

I really hope that that last one is sarcastic. Either way it 100% discredits all of your musical opinions.

Elvis should definitely be in there, but he shouldn't replace anything (and if anything, replace queen - their songs may be know everywhere but my doctor says not to listen them all day, as opposed to the rest). U2 has quite some seriously great songs, metallica just rocks, and the rest is obvious.

Justin rocks my socks. Baby, baby baby. Such intelligent lyrics.

The Doors have got to be on this list. Obviously I'm enormously biased, and the Doors influenced my childhood immensely, but I just don't see how U2, or Metallica could be considered greater. Based on what?

I'm too tired to write up a long explanation about how influential, how significant, how inspiring, how artistic, how how, the Doors are one of the greatest bands of all time. The evidence is overwhelming.

The evidence for U2?

Jim morrison is prometheus stealing fire from the gods, Bono is smeagel requesting that the gods let him touch the precious one last time, and trying to persuade the gods to let others glimpse the precious.

That's why you should eat apples so you don't have to listen to your doctor's opinions.

We're talking about music here... there's lots of good stuff out there and you know it when you hear it. There's no musical competition, except maybe for your dollars and this isn't American Idol. Radiohead is not "better" than Tool or visa-versa. They are what they are, so enjoy it while it lasts and hope that their next efforts continue to rock your world.

If you attempt to compile a list of the Greatest Bands of all time it should be a very long list and even then, there are bound to be plenty of omissions easily worthy of being noted.

Helpful in what way, to make me a sad bunny. The 70's sure produced some great music, but the passed two decades should not be even with the 60s.

My little species, how you disillusion me so.

agree with you on that, it's hard today to do something new in music ( people in the 50-60-70-80-90 kind of did it all )

RUSH is missing from your list. I am surprised some of you Canadians haven't pointed that out already.

I already said in tgd's other thread, we could have a long list of "who inspired who" in music and find ourselves at the very origin of music itself.

+1

and beach boys should be in (even though I only really like a few of their albums)

black sabbath surely has done more for hard rock than metallica

sly & the family stone for mixing rock with soul and funk and black & whites (uncommon at the time) and for being one of the most sampled bands

..and I´m afraid Genesis (150+ million records) have to be on that list even though I hate their best-selling albums and Phil Collins solo crap. They also spawned Peter Gabriel.

Ummmmm........?????????????? Seriously how could you have a greatest band poll without The Dead I mean really they've had band members that have lasted longer than most of your choices have been in existence. If I did a poll like this mine would begin like this:

The Grateful Dead
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Led Zeppelin
Little Feet
Marshall Tucker Band

High score: 2724
/#163 on scoreboard/COLONEL

Simple Man

This awesome kid whom I 'met' on the internet introduced me to this song. He had great music taste. I returned the favour by bestowing onto him the gifts of Pink Floyd.
