You know, it's interesting... this mockery of the Catholic's faith is weird. Why do you people care if they publically proclaim their faith as dictated by Catholic tradition?

They get a cross of ashes on their forehead on Ash Wednesday. I don't think prancing is necessarily any part of it, unless that's their normal bit.
Um, then wash it off?

I'm not Catholic, but I assume they wash it off at the end of the day. It's a public proclamation of faith.

Well if you think I'm a jerk here, I recomend you don't come hanging around me with that cross thing on your head. Do that and you will have cause to really hate me.

As is the application of cheese to the face. However, we never wash it off. It must wear off naturally.

It is the way of our people.

That's just crazy talk.

God would want you to have a festival where you would scrape it off with tortillas and eat it. Oh well, typically religion goes against his ways.

I could never give that up. even though I'm an athiest and don't practice lent, I still felt the need to post this.

okay, i have a question...if jesus died on friday, why is it called Good Friday? is it really good that he died?

Posted: Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:44 pm
by P Gizzle
i dunno, maybe cuz "we" (meaning christians) knew that he'd rise again?

and why did the Non-believers hijack a perfectly good thread? it makes me mad...

I wondered that too. In our faith its called Good Friday more because the outcome was good (salvation was attainable) than the events that happened.

yeah well, i'm not trying to hijack the thread, i just never get a straight answer at school...i've gone to catholic school for nine years, and never gotten a straight answer on why we call it good Friday...also, what day was he actually crucified on? cause no one here can ever make up their mind with what day he was...was it Thursday (that would make it three days, as stated in the apostles creed) or was it Friday in the morning, and he died in the afternoon? was it Wednesday? i don't really have a reason why for that one, but its always brought up in the arguments

it will never "matter", since whichever day Jesus actually died on, it'll change year to year. i believe it was Good Friday (Friday itself counts as one day, and two more days to Easter Sunday).

Good Friday continued

It happened on a Friday. The Apostle's Creed says "On the third day he rose again" So Friday was the first day, Saturday was the second, and Sunday was the third. That's why we go to church on Sunday, when Saturday is actually the sabbath. Sunday is the weekly remembrance of Christ's resurrection. Glad you asked.

Just remember...there are no rituals in christianity.

At first, I respected backglass' comments and opinions. I've reconsidered. When somebody goes out of their way to be insulting against someone else's beliefs, it's ridiculous.

You've given up your right to be taken seriously.
