What about "The Conquer Club Board Game" as a subtitle under "Riskopoly"? Or if you just want Conquer Club on the map somewhere... maybe we could use it instead of the Luxury Tax space? Or make a Chance card that reads "Conquer Club Fees are due! Pay Bank $20" or something like that?
I don't like "Conquer Clubopoly" much as a name. Any one have any better name ideas?
Brain storming:
Use other finance/business/real estate terms: Hostile Takeover, Corporate Raid, Urban Sprawl, Land Grab (actually, another boardgame)
Other war/combat terms mashed with Monopoly: Waropoly, Conqueropoly, Tacticopoly, Fortifopoly" (fun to say!)

I like it! Maybe not for the map... but for something! A tasty new drink, perhaps?
Re: progressing bonuses
EvilOtto wrote:I could be talked into the bonuses progressing around the board (maybe +1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5). I'm not so hot on two negative spaces (both tax and jail?) and it would make the light blue continent pretty well protected (no one wants to attack a -1 space!).
Note that although the light blue would be protected... it is also cheap if you use the accumulating bonus round the board. (Thus like Australia).
The main problem I see is that "mayfair" (I'm english) would be too powerful and easily defended... perhaps the "luxury" square could be a negative...
Not sure how but what about a 1way attack. i.e. Luxury can be attacked from any "property" on the board but cannot attack back... this would mean that Mayfair would need heavy defending (like Asia!).

I agree with Andy- its mainly 'riskopoly' that I don't like. All of your latest suggestions are pretty decent- I like the sound of fortifopoly, even though its not that important of a game component.
Waropoly or Conqueropoly are my favorite names so far.
this is so much better- looks very interesting, and may take some getting used to. The only thing i would have a problem with is the upside-down and side-ways names.... i mean, yea i can read them... but it would just be less of a pain is they were flipped.. altough i'm not sure it would look great that way- it's worth a try

What's in a name?
Overall I like the idea a lot. I agree with you on keeping the street names the same. Everyone has played monopoly and if the names are indeed changed to something else then you will have to flip stuff around so they can be read. I personally think that would be retarded unless of course there is some code out there to let you rotate your map at will. (maybe i'm retarded since i cant read stuff thats not horizontal :p)
Second I agree with changing the name to something other than Riskopoly. Currently all I can come up with is Pwn-opoly and that's just garbage. I do like the Hostile Takeover. The original game is all about business and taking over your opponents land. Then there is Urban Sprawl. I like it mainly because it is a good description of the map if you were to just read the name and not look at the map itself.
Finally I am also a big fan of scaling the bonuses up as you go around the board. This map is based on monopoly so why not make it play out similar to the original with everyone making a mad dash for Park Place and Boardwalk.

Actually I think Pwnopoly is perfect... it's moderately clever the first time you read it, then you think about how stupid it is, then you come to accept it because it sounds like the original and conveys the intent of the game.
Hostile Takeover is a better name, but it would be sad to lose the "-opoly" entirely.

New board
After some play-testing, and considering some feedback, here is a new version:
Changes:
-Got rid of the two utility deeds which were useless in play... replaced with 2 more bills on the right side ($1 and $100).
-Changed bonuses to increase around board. Another progression could be +1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5 or +2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6... The first continent only being +1 kinda sucks, especially next to the tax space.
-Replaced luxury tax with Conquer Club space.
-Replaced Utilities with Chance/War Chest... I HATE to lose these two spaces, but this way is much more clear and much more playable.
-"Go" space does nothing special now. The attacks to any corner was too powerful, especially being next to the park place/boardwalk continent.
My feeling is that the new money ($1 and $100) is not part of the continents... any opinions? Another option with the utilities would be to swap them (so the yellow lightbulb would be in the yellow continent) and just have them attack each other.
I'll post a poll for the name soon. Current poll entires: Riskopoly, Hostile Takeover, Conqueropoly, Pwnopoly, CCopoly, etc.
Get any other names in for consideration soon!

bills
cowshrptrn wrote:are the bills territories? if so then you should say so in the key.
Yes they are. If you played the game you'd see the army numbers there and I think it would be clear... no? Anyone else think this needs further explaining? The bills are territories and the card decks are territories, 48 all together.

It also doesn't make sense that, in Monopoly, rent on Baltic is two bucks while rent on Boardwalk is like $40. The progessive bonuses mirror the board game after which this is fashioned.
Sad to see the utilities go, but I understand why. The two extra bills area bit confusing - if the others are part of a continent, seems weird that these two aren't. What if they were dropped on the inside of the board? Just a thought.
Are you going to add army circles? That will make it much more clear what is a territory and what isn't.
Other than that, it's coming along great... can't wait to play it (electronically).

confused
gavin_sidhu wrote:This map is quite confusing and you will have to do something about that. I didn't get much of the board until i read ur blurb under it and studied it for a while. Not a good idea to make free army red, looks like it is part of red (or is it?)
Other than the red "free army" what did you find confusing? If you tell me maybe I can improve it?
So you can attack clockwise or counterclockwise?
And the "?" and shields belong to the continents... wont these territories have names?
Put railroads bonuses next to the legend and cut some wasted space; by the way, the bonus to all 4 is too high.
I think we should have all names in normal position to someone thats reading, not top down, or by side. This is annoying.
In fact, you have so many teleports that almost all territories are borders. You could think about remove some.
Post all suggestions of names, so we can vote.

Overall I like the new map. The two bills just tossed off to the side is kind of pointless. You might consider making them a part of the ParkPlace Boardwalk zone.
The fact that most places can attack all the others is what I like the most. I feel that the way it is set up now will make for a very challenging game. There are enough territories that six people could play and not finish the game in four rounds.

If you want to go just one direction, play circus max. I won't be joining you.
As for territory names, I assume it will be like "Red Chance" and "Orange War Chest" - no two are the same color.
The bonus for all of the railroads is pretty high, but keep in mind how difficult it is to hold them all - that's four territories with eight bordering spaces; imagine if australia could be attacked by 8 countires instead of one! And it mirrors monopoly, where the RR rent is ridiculous for all four.
I still say you call it Monopolonquer. It's no more stupid a name than Conqueropoly.

great map
i like the name riskopoly, i like the subtitle idea to include cc. maybe you could name the cclub territory in blue "c. club tax" or "dues" or sumthing. nice marketing scheme
i agree about the extra 2 bills that arent part of a continent, they need to go. the board is confusing enough with all the alternate attack routes, but at least they all are part of a system that makes sense. the extra bills arent and are therefore much harder to remember. i like the ones you currently have set up.
you need to list all of the -1 armies and +1 armies and attack directions, (like the fact that the railroads can all attack each other) in the legend somehow, so that players can see all the rules of the game at one glance. im not saying get rid of the other places where you give instructions, but maybe add another legend on the opposite side of the board to clearly lay out the rest of the rules.
the increasing territories is... nonsensical in terms of a normal risk board, but it follows the idea of monopoly. and if you think about it, in a real battle there are things other than attack routes and borders that determine the value of a continent--supplies, etc, etc. every1 will fight more for dk blue, but that mirrors more acurately a real battle.
i love the outrageous railroad bonus. theyre my favorite territories in the real game
and i think what oaktown was saying about them is right. they can be attacked from all sides and the bonus will make them highly competative.
it might be just me but the font seems a bit pixely, especially in comparison to the pictures on the corners. i dont really know what to do about that though.
anyway random thoughts. this map looks like its going to be a lot of fun to play

Do you need an excuse to have a war? I mean, who for? Can't you just say "You got lots of cash and land, but I've got a big sword, so divy up right now, chop chop."
